TheGoodHop Saved!

The Good Hop saved thanks to the strength of its community and social media.
“It’s been a tsunami of emotion wrapped up in a sharknado of goodwill. Last week you saw a TGH post saying we were in real danger of closing our doors. We had one ask: share TGH’s posts on your own social media feeds and talk us up to your friends, family, and coworkers. We hit “send” then waited. Would people actually share or would they just keep scrolling?” the owner, Melissa, shared on instagram.
Suddenly, the TGH crew was seeing their posts reshared everywhere! Suddenly, a whole lot more people knew about The Good Hop and wanted to help save it. Did it work?
Visits to their website jumped 400%, which helped get the word out about The Good Hop holiday beer boxes. “We sold more boxes yesterday–the first day they went on sale–than we’ve sold in the last 3 years COMBINED.You did this. YOU. Never could we have imagined the response we would get from you guys when you knew our little corner bar was in danger.” Melissa shared.
Keep the momentum building!

Customers buy entire beer stock to save bar

THE GOOD STUFF
A bar was struggling. Customers bought all its beer stock to keep it in business
(CNN) — A Toronto bar owner says her business will survive the coronavirus pandemic thanks to the loyal customers who bought up her entire beer stock, giving her a desperately needed cash boost.
Abra Shiner opened her bar, Swan Dive, five years ago in the Brockton Village neighborhood of Toronto, Canada. After Covid-19 restrictions forced her to shut the doors, Shiner decided to ask her community for help via Facebook.
“We were blowing through our savings and I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to pay rent towards the end of the month,” Shiner told CNN. “So, I wrote on Facebook asking people to come buy the beer we had in our stock room … and it worked. The post went viral.”

Museum of Beer – Online Exhibit opens this month

Brew: Museum of Beer to open online exhibit this month
Remember Brew: The Museum of Beer? It was going to be a national attraction here in Pittsburgh.
That was in August of 2016, and the folks behind the effort acknowledged that they had a lot of work to do. About two years later, the project’s principals were awarded a $59,700 grant from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board to start with an exhibit in a Downtown storefront, but that effort never found a home for reasons including COVID-19’s arrival in the spring.
Brew founder Joe McAllister says that later this month, the exhibit will launch online, a move OK’d by the PLCB and inspired, as he put it, “by the creativity and perseverance of the region’s breweries and restaurants.”
The exhibit, “The Story of Beer in Pennsylvania,” tells that story from Penn’s Colony to the present, with video interviews of brewers, historians, collectors and craft beer pioneers such as brewer Carol Stoudt. Viewers can click on points on a timeline and watch more in a gallery.

Comstock Park, Mich. (December 2, 2020) Over the past few weeks, voters have determined the style and ingredients of Perrin’s next beer release through the second ever Interactive Brew project. Beer lovers are invited to view a special livestream event on December 3 at 10 a.m. EST to watch Perrin’s brewing team craft this special, crowd-sourced brew. Homebrewers can follow along at home with materials provided by Perrin.
The Interactive Brew 2.0 project kicked off on November 13 and allowed the craft beer community to weigh in on aspects of Perrin’s next brew, including style and sub-style, flavor elements and the name of the beer. The project follows the initial Interactive Brew, which took place earlier this year, resulting in Self S’More-antine, a Russian Imperial Stout.
The name of the beer is still being determined, so click here to pick your favorite on or before Friday, December 4.
Visit Youtube here or tune into Perrin’s facebook page for the behind-the-scenes livestream event at 10 a.m. EST on December 3. Banff Craft Beer Week Canceled

BANFF CRAFT BEER WEEK CALLED OFF AND POSTPONED

Due to a growing concern for public health, Alberta Beer Festivals is calling off this year’s Banff Craft Beer Week and postponing it until further notice. From the outset of planning, which began in August of 2020, the format for the Banff Craft Beer Week was always intended to be people safely supporting local by visiting restaurants in their cohorts. Even with this in mind, due to the recent escalation of Covid cases both in Banff and in the province of Alberta, we are calling off all activations for the 2020 Banff Craft Beer Week.

American Guinness Head Brewer, Hollie Stephenson, Is on a Mission

Guinness Head Brewer Hollie Stephenson Is on a Mission to Make More Than Stouts (but Also Stouts)

While the Maryland brewery produces several stouts — after all, it is Guinness — head brewer Hollie Stephenson says it has been her mission to “challenge people’s perception of Guinness as a traditional stout brewer.” She’s done this by leading its experimental brewing program, which has produced its signature light golden lager, Guinness Blonde, along with the fruity Guinness Salt and Lime Ale, and the citrusy Guinness Galaxy IPA. Indeed, the 4,000-square-foot taproom introduces visitors to about a dozen experimental beers at any given time, Stephenson says.

Janesville winter beer bash out $20,000 from ticket vendor

JANESVILLE, Wis. — Organizers of a Wisconsin winter beer festival known as FlannelFest have filed complaints in two states against an online ticket vendor for failing to turn over money from ticket sales.
The chamber of commerce group in Janesville said third-party vendor Brown Paper Tickets owes $20,000 for online tickets sales to the festival held earlier this year.
John Fugate, board president of Downtown Janesville Inc., said complaints have been filed with the Wisconsin attorney general and the attorney general in Washington state, where Brown Paper Tickets operates.
