OR – Portland Fresh Hops Festival Needs Your Help!

The Oregon Brewers Guild’s 18th Annual Portland Fresh Hops Festival will be returning to Oaks Amusement Park this year and we are looking for a few more volunteers for the following shifts:
Fri 9/30 5:30-8:30pm Beer Server or Check-in/Sales
Sat 10/1 1:00-4:00pm Beer Server or Check-In/Sales
Sat 10/1 3:30-6:30pm Beer Server or Check-In/Sales
Sat 10/1 6:00-9:00pm Beer Server or Check-In/Sales
The event will be held on:
Friday, 9/30 from 4pm-8pm
Saturday, 10/1 from 12pm-8pm
All volunteers must be 21 or older.
OLCC Server permits are preferred, but not required to volunteer. We will have pre-shift meetings to go over OLCC regulations, as well as how to recognize and deal with very intoxicated persons (VIPs). If you do have an OLCC server permit, please have it with you for your shift.
You will notice that shifts have been shortened to three hours. As a thank you for your time, you will receive a volunteer shirt, as well as an event glass and drink tickets that can be used at the festival outside of your shift.

Falconer Foundation – Win a full-ride ABG scholarship valued at over $9,000!

** APPLY NOW FOR FALCONER FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP TO AMERICAN BREWERS GUILD **

In collaboration with the American Brewers Guild, we are offering a full-tuition scholarship to the Guild’s Intensive Brewing Science & Engineering program.
The Intensive Brewing Science & Engineering course is a 22-week distance education program with a final week of residential instruction. The course is designed for brewers and homebrewers who lack formal training in brewing science and covers all the fundamentals of beer production and quality assurance.
The American Brewers Guild is a premier school for the craft brewing industry dedicated to providing a comprehensive learning experience that focuses on the technical, scientific, and operational matters and issues that brewers face in a craft brewing environment.
The American Brewers Guild is now accepting applications for the Glen Hay Falconer Foundation slot in the Intensive Brewing Science & Engineering course that runs from January 22, 2023 through June 30, 2023 with the final week of onsite instruction in Middlebury, Vermont. The full application must be received no later than November 9, 2022. Note: This class is full except for this scholarship slot.
The scholarship is open to professional brewers and homebrewers from the states of Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Hawaii and California’s northern geographic region (San Francisco/Monterey Bay areas and north). The full-tuition scholarship also includes a $1,000 stipend to help offset travel and lodging expenses for the residential week in Middlebury, Vermont. The nonprofit will host a premiere party for “My Vote Matters” music video at the Englewood-based brewery on Sept. 15 to drive voter registration and education.
About Brewability:
Since its inception in 2016, Brewability has been serving up inclusivity alongside beer and pizza. Founded by a former special education teacher, Brewability is a brewery and pizzeria staffed primarily by people with developmental disabilities. Located in Englewood, Colorado, this establishment is where good food, good drinks, and good times are accessible to everyone. Well known craft beer cookbook author and podcaster John Holl will be recording a live podcast at Chuckanut Brewery’s South Nut Tap Room on September 10, Saturday at 5 pm. The podcast will be recorded in front of a live audience in the tap room and feature all kinds of topics between two Port of Skagit breweries. South Nut Tap Room is located across the road from the Port of Skagit Airport in Burlington, WA. John has been covering the beer industry as a reporter, writer and editor for nearly 20 years. Currently he is the editor of All About Beer and the on-air host for Drink Beer Think Beer podcasts.

Fresh Hop Pop-Up Beer Festival

The Portland Fresh Hop Pop-Up Beer Fest returns for it’s 7th year in 2022 at Portland’s “top food cart pod” the Prost! Marketplace on N. Mississippi Ave. The beer garden features ten food trucks and ten rotating taps. Each day of this 17 day fresh hop marathon will feature seasonal rare seasonal beers with special tappings nearly every day celebrating some of the best and brightest breweries and regions.
