Pizza beer finds its way into bottles

Pizza beer, first a homebrew, then a novelty that sparked a joke on the Tonight Show, soon will be sold in the Chicago area in bottles.

St. Charles homebrewer Tom Seefurth told the Chicago Tribune that the beer made with tomatoes, garlic, basil and oregano will begin production at Sand Creek Brewing Company in Black River Falls, Wis., within weeks and should be available by early November.

Formally known as Mamma Mia Pizza Beer, it will likely retail between $7.99 and $8.99 per 6-pack at stores including BinnyÂ’s Beverage Depot.

  1. I am a recovering alcoholic with almost 3 years of sobriety and I have to laugh at your article about pizza beer. That is an absolute riot. Well, I have nothing against beer, the people who drink it, or the people who brew it but it never did any favors for me. It made me into an idiot. Well, I’m still an idiot in some ways but I’m a SOBER idiot. If I ever take to drinking again, which I seriously doubt I will, I’ll be sure to AVOID that pizza beer. No thanks man. Are you kidding!?

  3. I like beer and I like pizza, but not in the same bottle! That’s just plain nasty! It sort of reminds me of this beer I once tried that had a chili pepper inside of it. It sort of tasted like hot sauce with alcohol. What will they come up with next?
