Owner raffles off pub
Winner will get 19th century tavern in Birmingham, England
June 29, 2005 - An English pub owner has decided to raffle off his 160 year-old pub.
Derek Organ says his Birmingham pub is worth £250,000 and hopes to raise that with the raffle. He hopes to sell 10,000 chances top win the Cross Keys for at £25 each.
"It's still a viable business, but we just fancy a change," Organ said. "I didn't want the hassle of dealing with estate agents, so thought this would be a good idea instead."
He and his wife hope to move to Canada. He expects to be able to draw a winner within three months or when the allocated number of tickets is sold.
