How sexy is their beer?

B-to-the-E gets mixed reviews in New York

Dec 13, 2004 - Budweiser's new beer with "something extra," know as B-to-the-E received mixed reviews in a less than scientific study conducted by The New York Post.

The Post writes, "A hot, new Budweiser beer contains an herbal stimulant thought to increase sex drive -- but while the new brew seems to raise one's alcohol tolerance, it doesn't raise much of anything else."

BE, as it's also known, just rolled out in bars and clubs in 55 cities across the country. Sold in 10-ounce cans, it costs $5 at bars. It is infused with caffeine, guarana and ginseng. With 6.6% alcohol, BE is about 30% stronger than regular Budweiser, but the Post reported Anheuser-Busch will tone down the alcohol content by year's end because people in taste tests prefer less potent samples.

Those who sampled B-to-the-E for the Post said they got drunker faster, felt a caffeine rush, and suffered a quick crash after the imbibing ended. They also made fewer trips to the bathroom -- although one drinker dubbed the beer it "Bee to the Pee" -- and didn't end up with mind-numbing hangovers.

Budweiser brand representative Dawn Roepke told The Post the beer provides a quick boost pre-party and then again in the middle of the night. The Post testers consumed it constantly through the evening.
