Bluejacket Hosts "How Government Affects Your Beer" for DCBW2015
In a city built on governmental institutions, should we be surprised
that the law also affects our libations?
Guests are invited to attend a DC Beer Week Panel on "How Goverment Affects Your Beer" on Tuesday,August 11th at Bluejacket. Hear from local and national figures on the pressing beer issues of the day and where legislative attention is
currently being placed. Last year’s panel focused on the success of DC’s nascent pint law, and--for this year--we will be exploring the other policies on the table that could expand, or contract, the reach of small breweries.
There is no admission fee for this event, and all seating is first come-first. Bluejacket beer and The Arsenal food may be ordered a la carte during the event as well. For the second year in a row, this panel will be moderated by "The Craft Beer Lobbyist", Mick Nardelli, and will feature the following expert panelists:
DC Councilmember Charles Allen (Ward 6)
Katie Marisic, Federal Affairs Manager for the Brewers Association
Kathy Rizzo, Executive Director of the DC Brewers Guild
August 20, 2015 to August 22, 2015 - Mount Vernon, Washington, United States
The Grain Gathering
The annual conference brings together professional and home bakers, maltsters, brewers, distillers, millers, farmers, wheat breeders, chefs, food writers, wood-oven builders, and people who come to enjoy “summer camp for bread lovers”. Over 40 workshops, panel discussions and demonstrations explore a range of topics which may include the best of whole grain baking, brewing beer, baking in a wood fired oven or a tandoor oven, building an earth oven, starting a whole grain bakery, the science of bread, and comparing flavors in a variety of wheats and other grains. A series of professional workshops create an opportunity for peers to share experiences, skills, and new ideas. Four to six workshops and presentations run simultaneously to accommodate the wide diversity of grain-related interests.
Fremont Brewing's Matt Lincecum will join Wayne Carpenter of Skagit Valley Malting, Charles Finkel of Pike Brewing, Will Kemper of Chuckanut Brewery & Kitchen and Emerson Lamb of Westland Distillery for a panel discussion on Beer, Whiskey & Malt.
