Our Annual Sour Festival Sunday, August 03, 2014, Noon, PAYG Pucker up baby… It is time for Monk’s Café Annual Sour Fest. I moved it up this year to: Sunday, August 3rd @ Noon We’re going to host this crazy good event the day after Sierra Nevada’s Beer Camp Across American Festival hits Penn Treaty Park. Am I crazy? You betcha! Two great events - in one weekend - in the best beer city in America. Beer Camp along the Delaware River and our Sour Fest @ Monks Cafe in Center City. We are proud that Sierra Nevada selected Philly as one of the towns to host their Beer Camp event. Here’s what I’m thinking…hearing that phrase from me should always make you shudder. I’m thinking that I want to pour some crazy good beers. These Sour Ales will be served in six ounce glassware: Allagash Broken Elevator (my last keg) Cantillon Gueuze Cantillon Iris Cantillon Mamouche DeMolen Lief & Leed DeMolen Rook & Leer (my last keg) DeProef Sour Barrel #1 Lost Abbey Framboise Lost Abbey Red Poppy Monk’s Café Flemish Sour Ale Russian River Consecration Russian River Supplication Russian River Temptation Tilquin Gueuze These Palate Cleansers will be served in pints: Allagash White Lost Abbey Devotion Russian River Blind Pig Russian River Pliny the Elder Sierra Nevada Porter + one more kick ass beer. I expect we will be kinda busy for this event, so we are making this a CASH ONLY day. It will speed up service, plus Monk’s won’t have to pay the credit card/debit card vig. Goose Island’s “Migration Week” nationwide tour lands at Blue Dog Chalfont on Thursday, August 7 from 8 – 10 pm! Enjoy some of the rarest of Goose Island’s beers and meet the folks from Goose Island. Here’s the scheduled draft line-up- Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Barleywine Ale Goose Island Backyard Rye Bourbon County Stout “Always on the lookout for the next thing they can throw in a barrel, our brewers actually looked no further than their own backyard for this release – literally. Inspired by the berries they remember first eating from the trees in their yards; this Bourbon County release is full of the dark, spicy, and pleasantly sweet flavors of mulberries, marionberries, and boysenberries. This trio of fruit nicely rounds out the spice and heat of the rye whiskey barrels in which they were aged, resulting in a smooth, jammy stout perfect for sipping on your back porch.” Goose Island Devon Avenue Ale “A beer from around the world, Devon Ave utilizes English yeast, American hops and malt, and Indian spices and chai. Part of our draft only, Chicago only Fulton and Wood series . . . ” Goose Island The Illinois Imperial IPA Goose Island Ogden Belgian-Style Tripel Goose Island Sofie Belgian Style Farmhouse Ale “Fermented with wild yeast & aged in wine barrels with orange peel” Goose Island Matilda Belgian Style Pale Ale Goose Island Endless IPA Goose Island 312 Urban Wheat Ale Plus the Goose Island crew will be pouring limited samples from some very rare bottles: Goose Island King Henry Goose Island Cherry Rye Goose Island Vanilla We are very excited about this event!
