PANEL DISCUSSION ~ 6 to 8 pm ~ Listen to the insights of four Pennsylvania women in the craft beer industry. Moderated by Sara Bozich. - According the the Brewers Association, women consume about 30 percent of the craft beer on the market, making them one of the strongest market demographics for the industry. Our discerning palates appreciate the strong flavors of craft beer. - Brewers and industry insiders agree: Women are more open to trying new, adventurous beers than men. - Female brewers are becoming more common in the modern craft brewing movement. Gone are the days when beer was the sole role of a man. - Today, with the return to quality and small batch brewing, the industry supports the creation of both new, interesting flavors and stronger community involvement, and women are finding more interest leading to a slow but steady rise in the field. - Hear from four real women in Pennsylvania who are making their mark in this otherwise male-dominated industry! 2015 Rocket City Brewfest
The Rocket City Brewfest is the primary fundraiser for Free the Hops, an all-volunteer 501(c)(6) non-profit in Alabama. Free the Hops is a lobbying and education organization of craft beer enthusiasts. We do not directly represent the beverage industry, although our interests do often coincide. We don’t sell beer for a living, we drink beer. If we could drink beer for a living, we probably would. None of the Free the Hops members who organize and work at the brewfest are financially compensated for their work. Not the principal organizers, not the webmaster (trust me), not the people serving you beer. Most volunteers (the ones wearing VOLUNTEER shirts) do receive a complimentary brewfest admission the day they’re not working the event. Some of us (the ones wearing blue shirts) work year round and certainly both days managing the event and thus are not able to attend as a patron. We do it because we LOVE craft beer, we love teaching people about the wide world of beer out there, and we want to support Free the Hops in its effort to change the beer laws and attitudes in Alabama. Our partner in the festival is Venue Management, LLC, an Alabama event planner. They help us by getting all required permits and licenses and by providing invaluable experience in logistics, planning, and event budgeting. Much of the work done by our partner is behind-the-scenes, but it has been essential to have professional people with an event of this magnitude. After paying expenses and our partner, the funds raised from the Rocket City Brewfest go to help Free the Hops in its efforts for supporting the Alabama Brewers Guild in their continued lobbying efforts and applied to our Education.efforts.

8th Annual Michigan Cask Ale Festival
The region's largest cask ale festival - "The craft beer of craft beer". Over 25 casks of real ale from around the country available all at one time. This year with a new "track" of Michigan ciders for the craft beer enthusiasts! We created the Michigan Cask Ale Festival a number of years ago to showcase a third kind of beer beyond conventional draft and bottle: cask ale, also known as real ale. This event requires months of planning and working through our strong relationships with brewers and distributors. We personally deliver our own casks to breweries for them to fill with unique, fresh beer from around the country and then put it all together the second Saturday in May at this, the largest festival of its kind anywhere in Michigan. It’s a lot of work, but we think when you taste these beers you’ll agree with us that it’s worth it. The list of beers is still developing. Brewers include: Bell's, Founders, Short's, Vivant, New Belgium, Rogue, New Holland, Jolly Pumpkin, Green Flash, Latitude 42, Odd Sides, Lagunitas, Greenbush, Arbor, Arcadia. The list goes on.

May 15, 2015 - San Diego, California, United States
Sorrento Valley Beer Festival
The Sorrento Valley Beer Festival is designed to celebrate all who have made the art and science of craft brewing a part of their lives, from people experimenting with home brewing to amazing breweries big and small that have made San Diego County their home. It is an event for people who live, work, and create here and who truly appreciate great tasting beer. Unlike a traditional beer festival, Sorrento Valley Beer Fest is to be a small (limited to 300 people), intimate after-work affair, allowing one-on-one interaction with brew experts. Our panel of Brew Masters from local breweries will answer questions and discuss all aspects of beer making with the guests. Attendance will be limited to those age 21 and over. Along with the panel of Brew Masters, the Sorrento Valley Beer Festival will also feature live music. Food will be available for purchase from food trucks invited to the event. Fire pits and fun games will make this festival a great place to celebrate American Craft Beer Week with your friends! A Designated Driver booth will also be provided with several non-alcoholic beverages. This will be the very first Sorrento Valley Beer Festival. It is a charitable event, raising funds for the Sorrento Valley Town Council (SVTC), a 501c(3) organization that gives back to the community by hosting events throughout the year. The SVTC is made up of volunteers; no one receives a salary or benefits financially; all the money is put back into the community. We hope you will make the Sorrento Valley Beer Festival a part of your American Craft Beer Week celebration!
