Flatlanders To Build Chicago Brewing Empire: New $6 million, 14,000 sq. ft. brewpub in Lincolnshire will do $5 million in sales in first year; model will be duplicated in Chicago suburban brewpubs in Orland Park and Schaumberg. $10 million private offering and $5 million line of credit from Lasalle Bank will fund expansion.

Ram International Expands with Northwest Brewpubs: Tacoma company with 22 restaurants opens six brewpubs in first year, principally in Oregon and Washington. Three new brewpubs to open in 1997.

California Cafe Wins Two-Year Legal Battle; Brewers Group Objects: Law Goes Into Effect January 1. Corta Madera company with four concept restaurants plans to open first Alcatraz Brewpub in San Francisco in 1997 with type 24 permit. California Small Brewers Association had opposed permit.

Ambrew IPO Raises $8.8 Million for Foreign Craft Breweries; Hong Kong Brewery as Model. Louisiana company plans to open brewpubs in Zurich, Dublin, Shanghai, Tecate, Budapest, Singapore, and Warsaw.
