For 2001, the holiday seasonal ale from Full Sail is again the Wassail. From the bottle, it pours a clear, deep mahagony. The aromas begin with a mellow spiciness. Full-bodied, the mouthfeel comes across as chewy, with a slight coarseness. The flavor starts with a big hop bitterness that is later matched, but not quite balanced, by a dry maltiness. At 5.3% alcohol by weight (6.5% abv), this year's brew is very drinkable. Each label is stamped with an "enjoy by" date about six months beyond the likely brew date.
