More than 80 breweries ready to celebrate repeal of Prohibition
Apr 1, 2003 - More than 80 breweries in more than 30 states have signed up to participate "New Beer's Eve" on or about April 7. The breweries and pubs are celebrating 70th anniversary of the repeal of Prohibition.
Participants have a variety of events planned. For instance, Brooklyn Brewery in Brooklyn, N.Y., will host a party Saturday (April 5), suggesting that those attend "don your fedora and pencil mustache or your flapper garb and join us for great beer and music." Deschutes Brewery in Bend, Ore., plans its party for April 7. "We will have a special Northwest style pale ale with a complex hop profile using the Brewers Gold hops that were common during the days after Prohibition," according to its website.
