St. Louis brewery boosts production by 3 million barrels over 1998

Jan 6, 2000 - Anheuser-Busch, brewer of Budweiser and Bud Light, broke its own record for U.S. beer sales volume in 1999.

"We are extremely pleased to report that our domestic beer shipments to wholesalers grew to an all-time high of 95.7 million barrels in 1999, an increase of 3.0 million barrels or 3.2% over 1998,'' said company president Patrick T. Stokes.

Anheuser-Busch said that for the nine months ended Sept. 30, its domestic market share, excluding exports. was 47.2%, an increase of 0.9 point over 1998. Including exports, the company's share of U.S. shipments was 47%, up from 46.1%.

"Each of our core brand families contributed to this record achievement. In particular, Bud Light continued its outstanding sales performance, delivering its eighth consecutive year of double-digit growth,'' Stokes said.
