I just had a GREAT idea..... anyone out there who is just dying to try a few beers from Colorado? I'm heading out there with my wife in about a week or so, and I thought that I'd get a few sixers of beers that so many people here have been interested to try.... things like Fat Tire, Left Hand Milk Stout, Odell's 90 schilling (this is my FAVORITE), and so on. I could send out "Colorado taster packs" to those of you who'd be interested in trading for a sixer of your own.... maybe some of your favorite local beers and/or some of your homebrew.
If you may be interested, let me know what kind of beer I ought to be looking for, and what you would be able to trade to me for it. Here's a partial list of beers I've been DYING to try....
Dogfish Head 60, 90 or 120 min. IPA
Big Sky Moose Drool
St. Arnold's (anything)
Alaskan Smoked Porter
Goose Island IPA or anything else of theirs
etc., etc., etc.......
Let me know what you think about this! I'd love to send out a few mixed sixers and get a whole bunch of beers I never tried in return! If no one is really interested, I understand.... it's just a thought. Let me know! Because, as my motto says......

FRET I WOULD LOVE TO WORK THAT TRADE OUT. I AM HAVING A LITTLE TROUBLE FINDING ST. ARNOLDS IN MY TOWN. I AM GOING OUT OF TOWN THIS WEEKEND AND I WILL LOOK IN THE METROPLEX. I STILL WANT TO GET SOME OF THE ROGUE CHOCOLATE STOUT TOO. YOU CAN PROBABLY FIND MOOSE DROOL THERE IN COLORADO......JUST GUESSING. COUNT ME IN. HAD ODELL'S WHEAT BACK IN 99. WAS GOOD IF I REMEMBER RIGHT. 90 SHILLING SOUNDS GOOOOOD.....
-St Arnold's is not a requirement... just a thought. Stuff that you buy religiously in your area that is indigineous I'm sure would be just fine.
-I don't have to pick up just Colorado beer if there's something out there that you can't get. Will look again for Rogue Brutal Bitter; stores around here keep saying they're going to get it back in, but I haven't seen it...
-I can't get Moose Drool in CO. Tried to find it the last 2 trips.
-Odell's 90 Shilling is absolutely OUTSTANDING when it's fresh. For awhile I would have sworn that there was no greater beer in the world.
-Last but not least... Buttweiser has a plant in Ft. Collins now, so I can get it fresh from the Clydesdale's patootie if anyone's interested....

A great place to start would be Falling Rock Taphouse in Denver (which is right around the corner from Wynkoop, the first brewpub in the Rockies and in the middle of several other brewpubs). They've got 69 beers on tap and a very knowledgable waitstaff. Owner Chris Black often loads them in a van and takes them to breweries in the region.
For instance, two New Belgium beers that don't get outside of Colorado are the Abbey Grand Cru and La Foile (which is only sold at the brewery).
That's only a for instance. You should try Bristol Laughing Lab (or drive down to Colorado Springs and see if the barley wine is still on tap - and have the Il Vicino IPA too), Dale's Pale Ale in cans (don't laugh), look for the Great Divide Maverick series (IPA and Imperial Stout) in bombers, etc.
Prosit,
Stan

I've heard nothing but good things about Avery Brewing. From their Imperial IPA "10" to their Imperial Stout "The Czar" to their Belgians. It's all good. I brought home some Odell's a few years back and liked the 90 Schilling but wasn't impressed with the stuff from Estes Park - just my opinion. Have a great time.
Have you heard? The owner of the Wynkoop Brewery is now MAYOR OF DENVER! WOOHOO! BEER FOR EVERYBODY!!!!
Haven't been to Falling Rock, but I've been by there... just hadn't had time to go in. I'll have to make a pit stop while I'm back home. Don't know if they'll have much in bottles there, but oh well....

Yeah, Estes Park is just OK beer. Avery is GREAT, and I'll be happy to get whatever I can from them if that's what we decide to do. You interested in a trade?

Fret, You can't get Goose Island in Memphis? Hell, I thought that was everywhere now. Drop me an e-mail through the forum system and maybe we can make some arrangements.
S.
BTW - I kind of liked Estes Park's beer when I visited. Of course, I think I tried their Barleywine or other stonger beer at the time, and I'd just day-hiked through an area of Rocky Mountain National - so maybe the combo of thirst and heavy-duty beer made me more accepting?
Go for it, steveh! See if you can make a shipping service.....
www.arcticliquor.com is a great place to look at Colorado brews, if anyone needs their memory refreshed. Have a look, and let me know what would sound good to all of you!

Just keeping this thread fresh in the "new posts" category so maybe more people will see it....
Check out the website above, and see if there's any CO beer that you're willing to try. I'll go back and get a whole bunch and make "variety packs" out of them to send off for trade for other brews. Even when I'm in CO, I'll be able to check my email, so there's plenty of time to get in on this. Drop me a PM if there's anything specific you'd like!
