Picked up some extry Magic Hat...

Anybody fancy a swap? I picked up a couple extra 6ers of "Fat Angel," their pale ale, and "Heart of Darkness," their stout. I'm open to just about any locals I can't get around here.

I fancy a swap. I've got full access to Bell's, 3Floyds, etc.

I've been wanting to do a swap but there's no locals worth trading. Anything close is Abita (which I think everyone can get) and Dixie (which isn't very impressive). Maybe if I have a great batch of HB, someone will trade.

Actually, I don't even mind stuff you think isn't worth it. I'm interested in trying a wide range of stuff I can't get. And I'd even be willing to trade for some Abita brews. I can only get a couple in 6er form around here (other than at a bar) and have some friends who swear by it. Send me a PM and we'll talk.

Actually I'd like to try the Abita Bock, that's the winter seasonal right? Can you get ahold of that? Dont' think I've seen it around here.

Oddly enough, they seem to stock Magic Hat pretty regularly at this store called The Wine Specialist around the corner from my office (22nd & M NW). Obviously they specialize in wine but they also have a fair selection of microbrews and imports -- including the two Magic Hats I mentioned!

Also, Schneider's of Capitol Hill (Mass & D NE near Union Station), last time I was in there anyway, had sixers of Heart of Darkness as well as the #9. Schneider's is also where I picked up my first DFH 90 minute 4-pack and that single of Herold Bohemian black lager I mentioned in another thread. They carry a fairly good rotating selection of oddities -- I also recall picking up there, probably a year ago, a single of Fraoch Heather Ale. They mainly specialize in wine, but their beer cooler, while small, is usually choice. It's also super close to my apartment so I consider it one of my locals. It's not the one I'm most loyal to (that's Hayden's at 7th & Independence SE, near Eastern Market), but I do stop in pretty frequently.

The Abita Bock is VERY TASTY (it is the winter seasonal). It's label is colored for MArdi Gras since it always falls in the winter brew "season". I'll go grab a sixer and we'll arange something. The Abita Amber is somewhat uninteresting but there's something about it that really makes it a joy to drink. And I love the Turbodog (a GREAT brown ale). If you're not able to get any of these, let me know.

I will BTW secure a supply of the bock, now that I realize others may not have access to it.

I see the Magic hat beer around too. Mainly in Maryland. I need to head over to Schneiders. They have a 50 year old Cognac that I need to get for a buddy of mine as a 50th B-day present.

Chaz, maybe we should add reliable paint stores to the DC watering hole list so as to cover all the bases?

KateFan00 - are you from Texas now living in DC? I'm an Austin transplant in PA with family in Annapolis. Thought it might be fun to find someone to take me to good watering holes that I have something (someplace) in common to begin with!

Yep! From Houston originally, went to college in Austin, now live in the District. But as you can see from my avatar, you can take the girl out of Texas, but....

Would love to show you around the good beer spots down here, any old time. There are lots of them. Have you ever been out down here?
