SDBW updates from SD Toronado

We hope you're enjoying SDBW so far. Here is a short, air-conditioned email to let you know how things will go around here for the next couple of days.

Today- at 4 pm we're excited to be pouring (for the first time here at the Toronado) two draft beers from soon-to-be North Park brewery Mike Hess Brewing. So excited that we have a super cool "Welcome to the Neighborhood" glass with both the Hess and Toronado logos printed on it. See the photo.They are pretty bad-ass, and we only have 40 or so, so don't miss out. We'll give 'em up full for $10 with $4 refills all night. The beers and descriptions are :

Russatus Irish Red Ale: Slightly more hop forward that a traditional Irish Red, with a corresponding higher original gravity. Finished with Columbus and Summit hops, this IRA is light and refreshing.
OG 15.3*P – 7.1% ABV – 68 IBUs

Intrepidus India Pale Ale: Our IPA is brewed with five different hops and has a simple, complimentary malt bill. Citrus and hop flowers dominate the aromatics. This batch specially dry hopped with Falconer’s Flight hops. Pours a hazy golden amber (from all the lupulin) with a thick light tan head.
OG 1.080 - 8.8%ABV – 88 IBUs

Then at 7 pm, we're happy to feature 3 outstanding beers from Maui Brewing company. We'll have their Coconut Porter, La Perouse white ale, and the excellent Pueo Pale on draft going for the nice price of just $4 all night.

We'll continue to keep you updated via email (probably tonight) on the rest of the weeks' events, such as the return of KRBC Citra, Cable Car, and a special, private Cascade bottle tasting on the patio on Thursday afternoon between 5-7pm, segueing into the tapping of a 15.5 gallon keg of Russian River Toronado 25th Anniversary ale, which is hurtling down the 5 from SF as we speak. The tasting will include samples of 11 different Cascade beers with a little friendly head-to-head sampling of Sang Royal and Sang Noir vs RRBC Consecration and Supplication respectively. We'll do it "Dr. Bill style" and rumor has it that the good doctor will be in attendance. Look for a listing on Ticketderby.com tonight with all the beers and the ticket price. We're limiting it to 35 people, and just awaiting a final confirmation before we put it down on "paper". Also, it's our very own Eric Shelley's birthday today, so punch him in the arm when you see him. Check back with you all tonight.

That's either the sound of a cable car rolling down Hyde Street or the sound of a hangover, we're not entirely sure. We are, however, sure that we will be tapping a 1/6 bbl of the Lost Abbey Cable Car 2012 today at 4pm. Tomme Arthur brewed Cable Car for the Toronado San Francisco's 20th anniversary in 2008, and has made it every year since. This year marks a return to style after the Kreik detour of 2011, and we can't wait to try it. We will also have a (very) limited number of bottles of every vintage available today at the bar. They will still be expensive (this is one of the rarest beers that we can think of) but we have lowered the prices for today only. We're heading to San Marcos as soon as we hit send on this email.

We still have a ton of great beer from Russian River, Cascade, and Alpine from yesterday if you were unable to make it... We'll see you here!
