Spatan Oktoberfest last night, very nice beer, still one of my favs.

Haufbrau Okto at lunch today also very good. Although I like most of the U.S. okto's, I think the Bavarians own this style.

And while cleaning the kitchen last night I had a Rodenbach Grand Cru. Damn that's fine stuff. It took me almost an hour to properly enjoy one bottle. It's time for my daughter to visit, I'm fast running out of Belgian storeboughts.

I love Rodenbach Grand Cru. Love it. And it used to be even better from the old brewery.

mmmm, Troegs Dead Reckoning Porter. I like the hoppiness of this beer. I don't feel so bad about them replacing the temporarily Oatmeal Stout with this...I stress "temporarily".

Wife and I shared .5 liters of Ayinger Jahrhundert while grilling some pork chops. Now were off to the HS football game. It's a perfect night for football.

I got my Micheal Jackson Rare Beer Club package yesterday, Matilda from Goose Island. Apparently it's modeled after Orval. Its exceptionally easy to drink, especially since Orval is in my top 5. But I'd have to call it an Orval Lite, it's a little sweeter, not quite the brett bite I love. This is my first Goose Island beer and I am damn pleased with it. I'm fighting the urge to drink another 750ml today.

Been brewing since 7:30 this morning.

So far,

Berghoff Classic Pilsner

In about 2 hours I'll crack open an Old Rasputin and follow it up with a good night's sleep.

No, just 3 batches. Those 5 were sampled throughout the day.

3 batches kicked my butt. Can't imagine doing 5.

Yesterday, my family and I went to the Oktoberfest in Amana Ia. Wife and I tried Mill Stream Oktoberfest and thier IPA (Iowa Pale Ale). Both were fairly tasty and we brought some home.

That's because it's much fresher (and probably slightly different yeast)...but don't call it lite, it'll sneak up on yeh.

Having a Spaten Okto, making a huge batch of chili for the GF and me and to bring to a beer-fest/camping trip next weekend.

I'm having my 1st crack at Three Philosophers. Very nice from start to finish. It has a sweet aroma but it doesnt taste as sweet as it presents itself. Aftertaste doesnt linger as I expected. Pretty heavy on alcohol content. 2 of these would give me a headache. I think this is what SA Cherry Wheat is trying to make a spin off of except the SA cherry flavor seems like it comes from a soda fountain. Or belongs there.
