Well for lack of a better way to put it, it has more of an English taste,Biscuit like maybe, honestly it is hard for me to describe because my taste buds are not real sensitive due to being a smoker for 27 years. I hope maybe some of the other guys here like Brewdog, millrat, corky, etc can chime in and give you a better answer. My taste buds are not real good for subtle differences, for example i could prolly not tell you based on taste the difference between 10 IBU and 25 IBU.
I guess the best way for you to do it would be to get a jug of the marris otter and a jug of say standard light malt extract and make to very simple side by side batches using a very basic recipe like this one
6lbs Marris Otter Extract
1oz Your favorite hops @60 min boil
Nottingham dry yeast
Then do one that is
Briess Pale Malt Extract
1oz of the same hop as above @60 mins
Nottingham dry yeast
Ferment them at the same temp for 30 days, carb them both for the same length of time, and taste them at the same time. That is the best way i personally can explain to learn the difference.
