Hello friends! Tonight's Tap It Tuesday at 6pm is LIVE: Blueberry. This NW style sour ale is a blend of wheat and blond ales that were oak aged in barrels for sixth months, then another four on fresh blueberries. Huge herbal aromas of dense blueberries are noticed up front, followed by hints of oak and a dusty floral note. Rich earthy notes of dark fruit on the palate lead to a tart finish that dries out to a base note of blueberry skins. 7.66% ABV, $6.5 glass. This is a preview of our next project to be bottled soon.
By the way, our Tap It Tuesdays are so much fun - there's always the threat of a "sour shower." Don't know what we mean? Check out the videos on our YouTube channel, and you'll have a full understanding! Even if you don't live in the Portland area, you can still watch the show; just follow Cascade Brewing Barrel House on Google+, and join our weekly Hangout at 5:30 pm each Tuesday. Gain insights from Blender Preston Weesner, then watch the tapping broadcast live.
The last 1/6th barrel of Pumpkin Smash will be going on tap tomorrow at Noon. We smashed and triple roasted 50 lbs of pumpkin down to 6 lbs, then added it to the beer that had been aging for 11 months in rum barrels. The aromas of spiced rum, mingled with the soft notes of roasted pumpkin, are noticed up front. Spice, roasted pumpkin and rum is followed by a soft warming from within. Be warned, at 13.5%, you might get pumpkin smashed!
Our Cranberry beer is now on tap, the perfect accompaniment for your Thanksgiving meal. This NW style sour wheat ale was barrel aged for five months, then aged on 300 lbs. of fresh cranberries and spices for another three months. You'll first notice aromas of cranberry and spicy dark citrus, followed by flavors of tart cranberries and dark cinnamon on the palate. These give way to a lingering dryness, with notes of cranberries and cinnamon in the finish. We will be selling this in grenades to bring home for dinner! New full grenade costs $24, refills are $20.
