The local World of Beer franchisee today said it plans to open the brand’s first Alabama bar Tuesday in Five Points South.
WOB 1 Acquisitions LLC, which is led by businessman Amir Shah, has invested $1.1 million into the store in Pickwick Plaza, according to a company release today.
The venue, which was originally scheduled to open in early October, has partnered with 11 area restaurants – including Dreamland BBQ, MetroPrime Steakhouse and Fuego – to deliver food to the bar.
The Birmingham City Council recently voted to give WOB $80,000 – half in cash and the other half from future sales tax revenue – to open at least two stores in the city.
Shah has said he plans to open four more stores over the next three years – two in Birmingham, one in Tuscaloosa and the other in Huntsville.
