Aging with oak spirals

I am going to use some oak spirals in a beer. Since it is a holiday ale, I am a bit pressed for time.

I was wondering if doubling the amount of oak spirals (four instead of two) would effectively half my aging (oak extraction) time (I was thinking two weeks with four).

I'll be aging in a keg on gas, so that I can go to bottle at the end of this period.

I don't see why it wouldn't work. Go for it, and bring me a bottle of it next time you're in the area. Eventually I'll get back to Midland again.

the flavor from the oak is from the beer seeping into and then out of the wood, right? Would cycling the pressure help to extract more flavor? I'm not saying that you need to, I'm sure the increased amount will do the trick, I'm just curious.
