By David Chang

A man is in custody after police say he crashed into a beer distributor while under the influence.

It happened Sunday around 3:30 a.m. on the 2200 block of West Allegheny Avenue in the Tioga-Nicetown section of the city.

Police say the man somehow lost control of the van he was driving, jumped a curb and crashed into a beer distributor building, causing a gas line to rupture.

Police shut down the area between 20th and 22nd streets as crews repaired the leaking line. No evacuations or injuries took place.

Police say the driver of the vehicle is facing DUI charges. He is currently in police custody.

This post made me think of a conversation in Mrs. Doubtfire.

Mrs. Doubtfire: He was quite fond of the drink. It was the drink that killed him.
Miranda: How awful, he was an alcoholic?
Mrs. Doubtfire: No, he was hit by a Guinness truck, so it was quite literally the drink that killed him.

When I was in college in Las Vegas NM the Coors distributorship was across the street from my apartment, at an intersection where you had to go left or right. Several times we saw drunks take the third option, through the front wall of the Coors distributor. Once a bunch of teenagers bailed out of the car and took off running, but the driver couldn't get out because his car was so far into the building he couldn't get out before the cops got there.

more than one party there

Maloof!
One toga party, in particular, comes to mind. Whoa.

Oh, and I made a big impression on myself one night there with everclear. You and Gil turned me over so I would not drown (saved my life actually). As you say... can't make this stuff up

Actually the toga party was at another apartment down by the feed store. But we do remember you trying to drown on dry land.
