This thread has inspired the wife and I to plan a beer/wine/cheese party for January.

I've had very good experiences so far with my friends who are primarily grape drinkers turning me on to some really good wine and I in turn have got them to sample some very good beer.

Per one of the previous posters, in spite of what the pages of Wine Spectator would have you believe not everyone who makes/drinks/sells wine is a snob. I think the Asimov piece I posted presents an interesting take on the world of wine v. beer.
