Hard choice, hockey or Garrett

I was presented with a hard choice for my evenng activity today. A team is in need of a goalie for thier game tonight at 9:45. Garrett Oliver is doing a beer, cheese, and chocolate pairing at Empire at 9PM. I decided that I get many chances to skate during the season but only few to listen to Garrett speak about beer and food. So I will be at Empire for the event.

I'm not sure why that was even a decision-I'd be there in a heartbeat.

I think that is a good choice. Some opportunities only present once and you should take advantage of them.

Yeah, any time somebody like that comes around, it's an opportunity that you shouldn't pass up.

I just got a call from a second team in dire need. As a goalie I hate telling these guys no for two reasons. It can be tough to finds goalies and even harder to play without one. Second, some teams are such that the first time you tell them no, they never call again.

"A" team but not your team? No decision in my mind. Now if it had been "your" team that might be another story.

You are very observant. If my regular team had a game scheduled tonight, I would have found a back up on my own or most likely not made plans to attend Garrett's event.
