Philly - Brewers Art canvasing the area

More high quality craft beer is seeping into the Philadelphia area, but not New Jersey – yet.

One of Baltimore’s stalwarts – Brewers Art – has been seen (and tasted, we are happy to report) on tap and in bottles recently.

Bottles of 750 ml St. Festivus, and bottles and draft of La Petroleuse have been turning up.

Festivus is a brown winter ale brewed with five types of malt, noble hops, then spiced with Curaçao orange peel and ginger. It’s 8 percent ABV allows you to enjoy it. The spices are mild, but present, and the beer goes down fairly smooth.

Put it in the holiday beer equation.

La Petroleuse, a Biere de Garde, has a deep golden color and a medium, malty body. Add a mild but noticeable hop character and a slight yeast spiciness of the Belgian variety and you have a beer that measures 7 percent ABV and is very mild in all respects.

If you’re in the Baltimore area, check out their most unique establishment on Church Street. It’s definitely worth the visit, espeically if you a lover of Belgian beers.
