I purchased this kit from Austin homebrew simply because the Arrogant Ale clone was very good and I wanted to continue to keep some bigger beers going...(I can't buy real beer in Utah)

They give no details on the beer, what style, ABV, nothing... I was surprised to find when I got it that it is a Belgian Witbier.
It comes with 2 pounds of flaked oats, one pound of flaked wheat, a pound of light specialty grains (cara pils?) 8 pounds of light extract, 2 ounces of hops...I can't remember, I think challenger... Wit biers are not hoppy, so it was only 1 ounce bittering and 1 ounce finishing. I can't remember if there was some DME or corn sugar, I don't think so.
It also has 1 oz bitter and 1 oz sweet orange peel, and 1 oz coriander seed that you put into the boil right as you turn it off.
There is also 1 tsp pepper corns added to the primary...
I also used the White labs yeast, I think it was required on this kit anyway...

It cooked up nicely, this was almost two weeks ago now.
I screwed up when topping up the water level...I was looking at the level markers on my 6.5 Gal carboy and still managed to fill it to the 6 gallon mark..go figure.

The O.G. ended up at 1.062, so I would imagine that it should have been a 1.070 with the normal water level.

I transferred it a few days ago and was very surprised to find that it tastes VERY good!
It's going to be another sneaky Balgian ale because it's already 5.7% and you can't taste it at all...
I figure that it will finish out around 6.2% or so, perfectly acceptable.

The spices and the pepper add a very interesting complexity to the beer.
I recommend this to anyone wanting to make something "different".
I am going to also make the 030303 vertical epic in a while...

I wish it would hurry up and get done....
I'll probably bottle it next weekend.
