dropped by Coopersmiths and Odells. Couldn't sample at Coopersmiths (was in town for court, dropped in just before and picked up a couple growlers) but did at Odell's after court.
Have you had that bourbon 90 shilling yet? It's on the hand pump, hot damn. It's an experiment they did by pinching off 5 gallons (that's gallons, not barrels) before carbonation and putting it in a cornie with a handful of oak chips they soaked in bourbon and charred on the brewer's backyard grill. Just like a homebrewer might. Subtle bourbon hints at first, ar cellar temp, but as it warms (I talked them into selling me a pint, they apparently usually just give out 2 oz tasters) it becomes more evident, but not too much so. Nice!
They also had the cutthroat porter which I believe you are fond of, on nitro. Though I am not a nitro fan, this was extremely nice.
I got a growler of the Town Pump pale which I'll try over the weekend.
The Sir Edmund ESB from Coopersmith's was an a) diacetyl-ish b) tannic disappointment that I believe I'll end up cooking chili with. Maybe they made a bad batch, I don't know. I wish I had tasted before plunking down ten scoots for a growler. Memo to self: next time buy your growlers AFTER your court appearance so you can do exactly that. I have high hopes for the Punjabi IPA though.
