Tonight, I was sitting quietly on my computer, when a cap from one of my beer bottles popped. Immediatly I tried to figure out the cause... the bottle was empty, the cap must have been pressed on slighty after I had emptied the bottle.

The obvious cause... drop in pressure due to a major storm I was in the middle of. To test the theory, I grabbed an English Mild I made... known for low carbonation... and wow... did it have a head all the sudden. It must have been 3 times as big as usual.. at least.

I never knew it would make that big of a difference. Now I wonder what difference it would make to bottle on a day of low pressure.
Does anyone ever pay attention to this? I wonder if micro/macro breweries do.

Ouch! I think if I tried to put that much thought into my bottling or kegging it would give me a huge head ache. I just do it when I feel the beer is ready and I have the time.

Never even considered that! but it seems like it needs some testing

I may just have to move to Kansas to bottle during a tornado!

hehehe, my wife went into early labor along with 10 or so other women when a storm rolled through one night. The sudden drop in the barometer caused her water to break. Our son (http://fox302.com/index.pl?s=vf&user=YamahaXS&category=New_Adam_pictures&file=Adammonth24003.jpg) (<-- click me) was born 23 hours later, happy and healthy. He is two now, and everytime a thunderstorm rolls through i wonder if there are women out there getting an early start to their motherhood.

Now, I can wonder about extra foamy beer too!

I have noticed in the secondary fermenter that if the pressure changes alot from the racking day you can tell. The water in the airlock will rise or fall depending on wether the pressure is greater of less than racking day.
