I've been on a diet and exercise regimen now for about a month or so. The goal is to get down to my high school weight of 180 lbs. I started off at 240 lbs. and have since lost 20 lbs. in one month. A funny thing I noticed was that if I drank a few beers one night (about 4 or 5) I'd wake up in the morning 2 lbs. lighter. My guess is that since alcohol is hydroscopic, it causes me to go to the bathroom more, resulting in less water weight. Whatever the case, I can honestly say that beer has helped me lose weight :)

So you're dehydrated and took in an extra 750 (estimating 150 cal/beer) calories via beer? Congrats!

Don't forget to start your day with some chocolate donuts and a coffee stout. You'll be looking svelte in no time!

Cheers!

no, not dehydrated at all. Aside from the occaisional beer night, all I drink is water. I am in no danger of becoming dehydrated.

as for the extra calories, the workouts I do, along with my diet, helps burn them efficiently.

A diet that excludes beer is no good. I'll never give up beer or coffee again unless it is mandated by my doctor. And I'd probably need a second opinion if he advised me to quit totally.;)

There is a book out called "Drink Beer, Lose Weight" or something along those lines. The premise is that beer averages about 125 to 160 calories per 12 oz. serving and anywhere from 2.3 g to about 20g of carbohydrates, depending on the style of beer. If you reduce your general intake by the assigned numbers, you can substitute the equivalent amount of beer and still lose weight. You do need to exercise and eat smarter than you were eating before. Example: (1) beer and (1) slice of pizza, not a six and half of an "Everything" pie!
It does have a list of the calories and carbs for alot of beers that are out there included. Interesting reading but not the South Beach or Atkins.

Maybe they should retitle it:
"Drink Beer, Lose Weight, Raise Cholesterol, Lose Energy, Skyrocket Blood Pressure, Die Sooner"

Too wordy?
