anyone know where one can find those chimay/corsendonk "L" shaped wrought metal frames with the hanging oval shaped signs usually found hanging where a wall meets the ceiling at our favorite beer bars? I found one at a beer store and i'm working on the owner, i may have to start talking money... he said that you can't find them anywhere - which i didn't believe, but i am having trouble finding these signs on the internet for sale..

If you can't find what you're looking for, why not make your own?

Here are a couple Chouffe signs:
Global Beer (http://www.globalbeer.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=Met)

And some different sign brackets:
Signs Direct (http://www.signsdirect.com/s.nl?sc=2&category=160)

Punch holes, attach chain, hang. I'm sure HomeDepot or your local hardware store has some options as well.

Cheers!

Try your local beer distributor. They are often given promotional material from the brewers that they in turn distribute to bars and stores. You might find some of the hardware or even more signs.

thanks, that signs direct site is a great start..

its easy to find those small metal signs for rediculously high prices, but i'm looking for the larger double-sided heavy duty types which i'm having trouble locating..

it seems i just have to get lucky from a dusty beer store with some back room full of relics

I don't know how it works in other states (I'm in OR), but here all promo materials you find in bars and stores is usually property of the distributors. The strict liquor laws are set up to prevent favoritism between distributors and stores/bars. The rules state that any signs/neons/bar towels/etc remain property of the distributor, who has a right to come and collect them at any time. The only exceptions to this rule are signs that the store pays for, which is rare because the distrib's like to keep possession of their signs so they can redistribute them to other bars when they aren't needed at the previous placement. This could explain whey you often hear how impossible they (the signs) are to get...
