Has anybody tried any of their products? I was encouraged by the local specialty beer purveyor yesterday to give their beers a try, so I purchased a bottle of "11," a limited production brew. I haven't tried it yet, but I have read about it here:

http://www.unibroue.com/products/11.cfm.

Just curious as to what you all thought about Unibroue.

I've had a few bottles of their Fin du Monde. It was good. Sorta bland, but good. The local HEB carries it. Tweek has recommended their Trois Pistoles but I haven't tried that one yet.

They do have a few that seem to overlap - esp. their Trippels. But they do some nice darker Belgian-style ales like Trois Pistoles & Maudite. Their Ephemere is a great summer quencher and I'm intrigues by their Raftman and its whiskey flavor notes. Of course there's Quelque Chose which you can drink hot, and a few you'll only find in Canada.

Not all of their beers will appeal to you, but they have a good mix so you're sure to find something you like.

Cheers!

Not too fond of their stuff. I have tried several of their products, and find that they taste very similar. Part of it may be that I am not really fond of the alcohol smell and taste in beer…I like my beer to taste like beer not distilled spirits.

I think the one with the canoe and flames is Maudite, but then again I think that had a devil on it…I’ll check when I go to the beer store tomorrow.

I do like the artwork on their labels, had a Fin du Monde t-shirt for a while.

I checked and it is Maudite, has the canoe and flames, with a devil at the bottom. I realized that one beer of theirs I do like is Blanche de Chambly. A nice light copy of a Belgian wit. Much lighter and less full bodied than Hoegarden, but more so than Stella Artois, it kinda sits in the middle. Although they serve it with and orange wheel rather than lemon.

I think they make some pretty decent brews. I like the Blanche and the Maudite. I had the 2002 Limited Edition Quelque Chose. It is an ale brewed with cherries and was a bit overwhelmed. I have a second bottle that I will celler as I think this definitely needs to mellow. Was too sweet and has an alochol level of 8%. (I like sour lambics and krieks.) Even though this particular beer is not my choice I think Unibroue does make good beers and is a quality outfit.

IMO Tres Pistoles is one of the finest beers made. I think unibruoe is a great brewery, though I am not too fond of there light beers. but then again I tend to stick to darker beers as a rule.

Love Unibroue and will drink it in a heartbeat whenever I am able to. Someone commented on the alc. taste and I tend to agree, especially with La Fin (The end of the world). Maudite is my favorite by far and La Gaillarde is interesting/ spicey aqlthough I think it uses no hops in the brew process.

I like the Le Fin du Monde and Maudite myself...and my local shop is trying to move some stock, I think, and have the 4pks of both on sale for 6.99...nice...
