What is Michael Jackson (The Beer Hunter) up to lately? His web site appears to have stopped dead some time in 2003.

Thanks for all replies.

I know he is going to be in Philadelphia and Washington DC in March.

Probable dates for his DC tastings are March 14, 15, 16. I think he is scheduled for the 15th at the Smithsonian event and will be at either the Brickskeller or RFD on the 14th or 16th or possibly both. I'll post more as I hear about it.

I've been wondering the same thing!

I hope a DVD release of his show sees the light of day.

I asked him about having the Beer Hunter Series put on DVD last year. He said that he can't even get the Discovery Channel to return his calls about this. He did say that he may resort to putting out the series on DVD himself. I'll ask him again in March.
I do have a copy on DVD that someone thoughfully burned for me from their video cassettes. But it would be nice to see an official release. I have asked my company IT guy to set up a new DVD burner at my home so I should be able to make copies soon. When that is possible, I will let you all know if anyone wants a copy.

Can't tell you what's going on at Discover Channel. I have a friend who used to be one of the managers in the DVD production department there, but he got canned and has no contacts anymore.

I actually sent MJ an e-mail, via the Beer Hunter site, asking about his series being released on DVD. I also wrote The Discovery Channel and PBS about the same thing. The following is the pathetic reply I received this morning from TDC -

Thank you for contacting Discovery Networks. We appreciate your e-mail.

For your convenience, every program we have available for purchase is listed on our website. Just log on to www.discovery.com and click on Discovery Store to browse our entire selection of DVD™s and other program related products.

Sincerely,

No kidding. What I specifically asked her was if The Beer Hunter was going to be released on DVD.

I let Barbara know I thought her canned replied sucked.

PBS replied that they lost the rights to The Beer Hunter in 1992.

Let us know if you get a further response. As I said above. MJ said he could not even get them to return his calls.

I try to keep feelers out for him going to Ithaca. He goes and speaks at Cornell. I would make that drive to hear him.

I recently picked up issue 3 of "Beers of the World" magazine and see that MJ has a column there too. All about Stella's return to the Bock world - and it sounds like it's pretty good.

OT for steveh -

I agree absolutely with your signature. Just think, there are people who've become alcoholics drinking Miller Lite.

It's too disgusting to contemplate.
