Glad to see they saved it. Few old breweries remain.

The Grain Belt label was bought by and is being produced by the August Schell brewery in my hometown of New Ulm, MN. It's a huge seller in southern MN & northern Iowa. The August Schell brewrey has to be considered one of the most beautiful breweries in the country. It's tucked back in the woods on the edge of town and has big gardens with peacocks roaming around between the brewery and the family mansion. They're undergoing some construction at present. They are building a new museum/gift shop/rathskeller and when it's done it's going to be quite something. If you're ever in the neighborhood, it's a must stop.

I'm not sure when if ever I'll be near New Ulm, but whenever I see a Schell product, I check it out. They produce some really fine beers. You're lucky to be so close.

On February 25th they will be having their annual Bockfest. It's the party to end all. There is usually about 5000 people listening to music and of coarse drinking tons of bock beer. The brewery turns into an over crowded little city. It's the greatest show on earth.

Hmmm...I'm up here in the Twin Cities, I just might have to check this out. How far is New Ulm?

A shame that it isn't a brewery any more; also a shame that Minneapolis proper no longer has a brewery.

Does anyone know what's become of the Minnesota Brewing Co. brewery in St. Paul?

Minnesota Brewing Co was where Grain Belt was previously produced. their brewery in St. Paul (on west 7th st) is closed but still there, after serving some time as an ethanol production plant, but it's for sale and continues to be a subject for destruction and redevelopment...

We used to buy it in KCMO back when I was in college - four bucks a case. "Belt Me!"

I've got a piece or two of old Grain Belt breweriana. One is hanging on the wall in my family room. I've considered listing it on Ebay. It is a piece from the 50s.

I've been to many old breweries over the last 30 years. Some are now gone. It is a huge shame as most had stunning architecture. I have lots of lithos, trays and prints showing images of the breweries. Some of my favorite Breweriana
