While in Alaska this summer I was able to drink all the brews they offer. They were available pretty much at every liquor store where I was.
Alaskan Amber and Pale were outstanding.
The Alaskan Frontier, Winter, and Summer were good but nothing to write home about.
And I didn't care for the ESB much.
I stuck with the Pale, it was my favorite by far.
I also tried a few from the only brew pub I could find in Anchorage, and the name slips my mind, but the Scottish Ale from the Homer Brewing Co. was on tap, boy was that good.
Unfortunately the smoked porter was out of season and so I couldn't get some and try it.
I highly recomend the Pale, but how to get them in the lower 48 is beyond me. I've never seen them around in MN.

Of course, we can't get some of the good stuff from your neck of the woods so I guess it balances out in the end.

I just bought a couple of the smoked porters the other day at Belmont Station. Damn good. Strong smokey taste. Think I'm gonna stash the other one back for a while.

As far as getting it in the lower 48, try Belmont Station. http://www.horsebrass.com/belmont_station/
Not sure on shipping policies. Worth a try, though.
Don't let the selection hurt ya.

There are at least three brew pubs in Anchorage.
The Moose's Tooth. An good place for beer and pizza. http://www.moosestooth.net/
The Bear Tooth. The brother of Moose's Tooth. They serve good food other than pizza and you can watch a big screen movie in a theater while you eat and drink.
The Glacier Brew House. Another good place for beer and food. http://www.glacierbrewhouse.com/
The Snow Goose. By far my choice for beer and food. http://www.alaskabeers.com/
I hope the links work and if your in the area check them out.

Anchorage has gems aplenty when it comes to high quality beer offerings. Aside from the above listed brew pubs pointed out by adbachtell, we have:
Cafe Amsterdam, a small cafe in mid-town that only sells the best. Good food, too!(check their schedule)
Yukon Yacht Club, taps taps taps and a marvelous bottled selection as well
SubZero, a small unique and trendy bar with an excellent and almost exclusive Belgian selection
Humpy's, a downtown landmark with both excellent food and beer selections
(I realized that I shouldn't add too much confusion. Please note that the 4 above establishments are not brew pubs but all have excellent offerings from near and far.)
While in Anchorage, or if you can find them in your own locale, don't hesitate to sample the offerings of Midnight Sun Brewery. Even better, check out their Belgian stylings under the "Brasserie du Soleil de Minuit" label, like "La Maitresse du Moine" (Monks Mistress), a dark artisanal, or "E’Pluche Culotte" (Panty Peeler), a triple. Midnight Sun's barleywine, "Arctic Devil", won 3rd place at this years 2004 Alaska Beer and Barleywine Festival.
In fact, this Barley Wine Festival saw 4 Alaskan breweries taking prizes. Sleeping Lady Brewery received 4th place Honorable Mention with their Old Gander Barley Wine; Midnight Sun with 3rd place, as noted above; Alaskan Brewing took 2nd with their Big Nugget Barley Wine entry, and Glacier Brewhouse took 1st with their marvelous oak-aged entry, BrewHouse Big Woody.
But please don't cry foul: 4 of the 5 member final judging panel were from out of state...

I visited several breweries when I was up there. Alaskan brewing being one. I enjoyed several of the beers at the brewery and I was able to find a couple bottles of the smoked porter to bring back and one to consume there. Skagway had a nice brewpub.

You might find tavernjef over on the BA board, if you look hard enough... don't know how often he's over here anymore.
