So, am I the only one perplexed by this ad on the main page?
I can pick up the Grand Cru for $10 /750 ml. anytime I want at my local spot; I thought Jackson's Rare Beer Club was reserved solely for those "impossible to find" (i.e., never bottled, never imported, etc.) beers?!?! Not that my local isn't a great store, but if it can be had in St. Mary's County, I'm assuming it can be found plenty of other places as well.
I'm not alone in this, am I? Or do I just happen to be the luckiest kid on the block?

Shoosh!! Youll blow our cover! Dont you know? They only released a small quantity in southern Maryland because it reminds them so much of Belgium...

I don't know about other states, but here in Ohio the Rodenbach beers were made available a few months ago - for the first time since 1998. Not sure if that's a brewery thing, importer thing, distributor thing, or some combination thereof, but they WERE rare around here for a while.

Really?! I was under the impression that the Bricks and RFD only had the regular Rodenbach on tap, not the Grand Cru.
Also, the one big reason I'm asking this is that my local is actually the only place I've found any Rodenbach, let alone the GC, in bottles. Even Barnyard in Glen Burnie doesn't carry it. So, as far as I know, it is a rarity; just wanted to see if I was sitting on an undiscovered goldmine of sorts.

They are being brewed at a different brewery from where they were originally made and are not quite as good as the old Grand Cru. But Rodenbach is still delish! The Old Grand Cru would easily be in my top 5 beers of all time. I believe that there was a gap from the early 90s until late 90s when no Rodenbach was brewed. I hope I have my facts correct here as my memory of this history is hazy. I love Rodenbach. It is a fine beer and used to be exquisite.

Same deal here. I just strolled into my local one day about 3 months ago, and they had a case stacked on the shelf. I almost wept openly, and grabbed 4 bottles immediately, figuring this was a one-off thing for my store. After I got up to the counter and asked the owner, he told me not to worry, and that they'd be getting it regularly from then on.

Yes the Bricks and RFD only have regular and not Grand Cru.

The Rare Beer Club doesn't only include beers that are never anything. They include rare beers. Rare, can be a relative term. In metro areas with stores that have wide selections, "rare" has a different meaning than it would in Northern Maine or Utah or...
Rodenbach isn't commonplace around these parts. I know stores that I can drive to and buy some, but not commonplace. Therefore, I guess it is relatively rare or limited.
Cheers!

So, again, this begs the question: am I sitting on a rarity as Jackson is marketing it? Or is he just running out of rarities to peddle at exorbitant prices?

Ahh, okay. Maybe my selective memory was switched on when I was reading about the club a while ago. Was very much under the impression that the club existed solely for beers you just couldn't find, period.

Having a large segment of my family from the South (Georgia, specifically), I can sympathize. I'm pretty sure Budweiser's first sponsorship gig was the Confederacy.

A little broad, no? With Georgia's raising of the abv% limit, many stores are carrying new products. I've heard many people rave about Green's in Atlanta:

And New Orleans has/had this gem - no clue if it survived:

I think I'm gonna order the 12 bottles of the Grand Cru from the home page here. If it is 10.00 a bottle locally, I'll pay that to have them shipped directly to me. 12 bottles are 119.00 on the site. Will save me a trip. I LOVE Rodenbach.

Can you not find it locally? I checked when I picked up 2 bottles the other day: it's actually only $9/bottle for us. Plus no shipping costs. Double plus I'd prefer not to have to drop $120 at a time for my fix. And if I did, knowing my store, I'd probably get a bottle or two for free. I s'pose the County ain't so bad after all.
Now if they could only work on getting some Cantillon. :D

I could probably find it if I looked. It is just easier to have it shipped here to the office I suppose. I know the regular Rodenbach is around on draft. I just love the Grand Cru - especially the old GC. I went ahead and ordered 12 bottles.
Now I just need to get the 2006 Dogfish Head Burton Baton.

Good luck, you'll need some to get that if it is anything like the situation in Ohio. The entire state of Ohio got something like 36 cases. The beverage store next to the bar I work at (both are owned by one family) got a single case, and really they were lucky to get that. I bought 8 bottles of it, and have seven bottles left.
Although, actually... what would you say to trade of a couple bottles of Burton Baton (plus some cash) for a couple bottles of DFH120? I cant buy the 120 Minute IPA here, but I would be willing to part with two bottles of Burton Baton in exchange for two bottles of the DFH120 IPA. I may even be able to score a few (say, two or three, which would bring the total number available for trade to 4 or 5) extra bottles of the Burton Baton if we have some left at the bar, but I'd have to buy them at the bar price ($4.75/12oz).

Still some around in Boston area. One store held a tasting last night and sold all of the few cases they had. Another store I know of has less than a case left. Still waiting on some other stores to get their delivery.

Yeah, they're not really comparably priced items - at least around here. Burton Baton went for $4 per bottle last year and the 120 Minute goes for $7-9 per currently.
Cheers!

The 2006 Dogfish Head Burton Baton ($12.99/4pk)
That is what Norm's one of my local paint stores is selling it for.
I'll be down at the beach this weekend. It might be a little cheaper down in Rehobeth but most likely not.

Yeah, I picked mine up for the same price, $13 for four 12oz bottles. At this point I am assuming you can find some DFH BB and arent interested in a trade, but let me know if you change your mind.

Cool. If it wouldnt be too much of a hassle, I'd like one or two bottles of DFH WWStout as well. I can either pay you cash, or I could list my current beer cellar and you can pick from there anything that strikes your fancy. Granted, as someone who is saving his money to pay for college, "list my current beer cellar" is coming close to an exaggeration, but I may have something that you havent tried yet. Speaking of which, I can send you some homebrews as partial payment, since I'm pretty sure you dont have any Baby Seal Brewery beers.
