G'day!
Well, I'm kind of new to this whole home-brew thing.. I've got one brew done and 2nd on the way in my fermenter :) But I've found a problem??!!
Storage of my bottles! I've done a bit of hunting around the web for a good solution (I hate cardboard boxes) and thought it would be nice to use wooden beer cases. After a bit of googling, I discovered that there is basically only 1 set of plans online for a home-made crate, those are here, on this website ( http://realbeer.com/spencer/beercase.htm ) and since I don't have a box jig ( I don't even know what a box jig is! ) and I don't fancy the prospect of trying to cut all those little bits out, I figured it was too hard to make....
Well, anyhow - I've had a go at designing my own and thought I would share it with the forum and see what people think?
The crate that I have designed will hold 24 stubbies.
OK, I have a couple of photos on my website: you can check them out here:

That looks great.
I normally use the cardboard case boxes, but I've been considering something more sturdy.

Welcome and thanks for the Pac Man fix. I haven't played that game in years. I still remember my high score when I was in 7th grade. 108,470 and I got to the 4th key. I was in a 7-11 with my Big Gulp and a plastic tray of those nasty nachos with the plastic cheese and meat surprise.
The crate is pretty cool too.

I was a 7-11 video game kid, too, except that we usually ate the arm-sized burritos instead, and they had Mr. Do! and Digdug at our local. Well, local is an odd word for it - it was a 1.5 mile walk one-way, so we brought the boom box and smoked Camel straights on the trip. Oh, the sheer stupidity and magical experiences of youth... ;)
Welcome to the board Krusty.

Krusty that is so cool! Dude, why didn't I ever think of that? Especially when I'm tripping over 6 packs of bottles everywhere? You've inspired me!
Welcome and welcome!

Digdug, that was a cool game.
Remember when the big Gulp was huge??? Now days it a medium. I see these people now with those mamoth jugs of soda these days. It's scary. You know those ones that look like a huge plastic coffee mug. They even had to modify the straws these days for the cup sizes. You know the big red ones that are like garden hoses. It's crazy..

my game of choice was always millipeed, spent way to many quarters playing that game. my favorite was when I found a bar that had an old table version of it, used to go in with a roll of quarters and leave when they were gone.
great crate, can totally see that being useful,

We couldn't keep working joysticks in the house. Every 3 weeks we were off to K-Mart in search of some new version that wouldn't break...

get to know MAME. fellas. The Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator. It's software that plays all your old favorite arcade games. It uses the software from the original game and MAME emulates the hardware of the original.

It FREE!!! It's open source software. The ROMs (games) are only legally available if you own the machine and pull the software off yourself. That said, there a re a lot of places online that will let you download a game rom to "try out"

one of the geekier fellas in our club built a unit running mame into an old arcade game housing. very cool!

Hi & thanks for all the welcomes :)
MAME is great! I got hooked a couple of years ago and downloaded 100's of roms via dial-up, spent hours and hours online - lots of fun! I've thought about building myself a MAME cabinet, perhaps one of these days.
Cheers,
Krusty
All I can remember were pin-ball machines and pool tables in our local tavern while growing up. Guess I'm older than I thought.

Played lots of pinball and could get a number of free beers from playing pool. If my hazy memory works ok, vidio games didn't hit the big time till I wa in college. Played alot of Space Invaders and Ms. PacMan at a bar my buddies father owned. This was back when drafts could be had for a quarter, it was swill but cheap, could always catch a buzz for 2 bucks or less. Of course with my friend bartending it was usually pay for one get one free. :D

About 10 years ago I bought a pinball machine. Loved it. I paid about $500 for it at the time and did some restoration work on it. Had it working like new - it was lots of fun.... But I movied into a small flat and ended up selling it :( The same vintage pinball machines now, in that condition, will set you back about $2000!!! If I had only known... ARGH! LOL
