Just sitting here with my taste buds having been shot by a shot of Scotch wondering if this Red Stripe Lager I'm now drinking is regarded as good, bad, ugly or whatever. Your thoughts might be would be appreciated

I imagine the Scotch would definitely enhance the Red Stripe! I vote indifferent, RS seems to be the Rolling Rock of the Caribbean, not a bad beer, but nothing worth going out of my way to drink.

I agree with SteveH. Red stripe is indifferent, only marginally better than Bud. However if you're on a caribbean beach with your lady, eating lobster off the grill and sipping a cold one, it's probably the best beer in the world!

RS never made an impression one way or the other in my mind; personally, I consider that a generally bad sign for a beer. Other people I've talked to complain of headaches after consuming it, so take that for what it's worth. I hate to say it, but..... usually, beer preferences are in the mouth of the imbiber, one way or the other. Your mileage may vary. Their commercials are cute enough, though.

well i've never tried it, thank god. i was curious once and it actually made it's way in to my shopping cart , i wanted something new but they didn't have much of a selection. any ways i pulled it out and tried the full sail amber instead. twas a good move i guess , although the full sail i found a little boring ,it wasn't at all offensive as i imagine the red stripe may have been.

I agree with Theakston. It's all about your environment/mood at the time. Although I don't consider it a good beer (indifferent-yes), I had a Red Stripe recently. Why? Because I was in a carribean-themed restaurant, listnenig to Jimmy Buffet-type music and it was a hot day. It tasted just fine to me.

When I was in Jamaica having ganja on the beach, I thought RS was awesome. I think describing it as the "Rolling Rock" of the Caribean is perfect. I don't dislike it, but there is better. In Jamaica, RS is about 50 cents a bottle. American swills are way more expensive. It was a no brainer, especially when all the rastas are selling it cheap in the street.

Well, you gotta specialize in something...Actually had some ganja beer while I was down there. May give that a go some day in the homebrew.

It's not my favorite, but I like it nonetheless. Sometimes I'll be in the mood for it and snag some of that instead of a "better" beer.

That would probably make one helluva vigorous fermentation - just think of all of those little stoned yeasts with the munchies!!

I think The Dragon Stout made by the same brewery may be marginally better but I have not had either beer in decades.
