odd beers

Has any one esle ever given any thought to making an odd beer?
I have access to bagel water. Bagels are boiled in a malt extract to give them their shine. I have thought about making a bagel beer. I have also been told that it has already been done. I have also toyed with the idea of using rhubarb as a bittering agent. Any other Trekies formulated a Romulan ale yet? I am sorry if these seem a little strange, but forgive me as I am a hockey goalie too.

I've thought about it and keep saying I'll brew "something different and experimental" once I have a nice stock of beer that I like piled up so I can experiment.

Unfortunately, between myself and my friends I drink my beer about as fast as I brew it, so stockpiling hasn't happened.
