Spent part of my Christmas Eve brewing up a hearty Irish Red. Nudges the top end of the numbers for the style - in color and IBU...with a respectable gravity. Due to my inefficient batch sparge setup / practices, I used ~ 3# more base grain than some would have.
Used a venturi pump to pull wort from kettle into carboy. A luxury for today's brew (5 gal with an immersion chiller) but it'll be a real backsaver on 10gal counterflow chilled batches due to the lack of lifting.
