Hi everyone!

I just bought this perlick kegerator for $5.00. When I plug it in only the blower works the compressor does not come on. There is this little box on the back at the end of the cord you plug in that has another plug plugged into it. When I unplug this and plug it into a seperate cord the blower and the compressor run and it gets cold. So is there a thermostat somewhere that is not causing this little box to give the compressor power? How may I fix it?

Here is a pic The blue one is the plug going out to the wall and the red is the compressor.

Sounds like either the relay went bad or the actual thermostat is bad. The way to test the relay is to simply plug and unplug, listening or feeling for a click in the plug in part of the unit; don't have the compressor plugged in when you do this. If it doesn't click, it's probably the thermostat. Might just want to replace the whole relay/thermostat unit.

Before doing that, follow the wiring out from the relay-if possible disassemble the relay and check out all contacts, maybe a solder joint gone bad. Is it simply disconnected? Is there a pinch-point where the wire could have been shorted? Could the 110 plug have gone bad? You can check shorts out with an ohmmeter.
