Budweiser have lauched a new Bud in the UK and it is sure to be welcomed by all beer enthusiasts.
This is because it's brewed by the brewers of real Budweiser (the Czech brewer Budweiser Budvar) who, in spite of protests from Anheuser Busch, have been allowed to use the name "Bud" in the UK.
In this case the "Bud" is a 7.2 ABV bock, "Bud Super Strong" and it will be available for drinking next Christmas.
Why so long? Because it is lagered (stored) for 300 days to mature before being sold. This compares with just 100 days for regular Czechosolvakian Budweiser Budvar and about five minutes for the A-B product.
It will not be sold under this name in the "Land of the Free" since A-B have blocked the use of the name Budweiser and Bud in the USA by any other brewers. I understand that regular Czechoslovakian Budweiser is sold in the USA as "Czechvar" and maybe someone could confirm that for me.
