Better to call/email Yuengling than rely on someone not in the beer industry in MS. I've learned this in the past. Case in point: a local bar here in RI sells Yuengling on occasion - not because it's distributed here but because the bar owner has family in PA and brings back cases a few times per year to keep in his cooler. He doesn't widely advertise he has it, but if someone see it and wants one, he's more than happy to sell it (cheaply) and support a brewery he loves. Had I not asked and confirmed this with the brewery, I could've/would've assumed wrong.

Again, contacting the brewery directly is the best way to get accurate information.

Cheers!

Although...I am going home to Mississippi to visit family in two weeks. While I don't get out much, I am going to revisit some of my old haunts. While I'm about, I'll keep an eye skinned and will get back to you.

I'll also be looking for Lazy Magnolia beers. Before Katrina they supposedly were only distributing on the coast. My understanding is they're more state-wide now since there's very little market on the coast at this time.

I have toured the brewery several times and it has a great heritage. And in the 70s we frequently drank Yuengling Porter. But I really think thier beers are just a notch above BMC. Not really worthy or seeking out.

Sorry, ballentx. I completely forgot to respond to this thread when I got back from MS (mainly because I was so glad to LEAVE MS). Didn't get a chance to see ANY old haunts. So the question must remain unanswered for now...

Shiner brews a "blonde lager" here in Texas, that tastes to me very similar to Yuengling. Not a great beer, not a bad beer, just an honest...beer. It's a fall-back for me. If it's available in your area, you might want to give it a spin to see how you think it compares.
