Where can I find good plans to make a nice home Kegarator using a Chest Freezer? =)

Welcome to the site-

Honestly, I don't think there are any 'plans' per se.

I used this site (http://www.oregonbrewcrew.com/freezer/freezer.html) as a basis for my kegerator (http://www.west-point.org/users/usma1986/42894/kegerator.htm), and kind of winged it from there.

I put a thermostat into my freezer, with a 110 volt ac relay I got at radio shack powered by a 12 volt dc transformer run to the thermostat. I just have it velcro'd inside using phone wire on the 12 volt side. I plan on installing a beer tower right through the top, and I'll run my CO2 through the top as well...no coils there. That is, if my son doesnt' bag the deer this Saturday and I have to use the freezer as a freezer. It's either beer or deer. At present I can hold 6-7 cornies with room to spare. You can also use this rig to maintain temps while fermenting. I'm serving my brew at normal ferment temps anyway, so it's a win-win.

You can also buy the Johnson control mentioned on this site.

Here (http://gvtc.com/~jmurdoch/now_showing.htm) is a killer setup using a chest freezer. It is the style I am modeling mine after. Functional and classy.

That one is what I am going after as well. I am trying to think of a good way to do it and not cut holes in the freezer. I think I will make a collar first and then wrap the "bar" around that so the lines can come up from the back and into the tower section.
Does anyone have a better idea?

I want to do something similar, but I want my taps on the front, coming through the collar. For one, it will eliminate any tempeture difference problems associated with towers. Also, I will be able to put a lockable door on the front (required by SWMBO) without it looking ugly when not in use.

I'll be drawing up some plans soon, as I need the design approved before beginning the project.

Mine is built along the same plans as what Harvest is showing, but I'm going to redo it and put a collar with taps coming through like Hogiewan is talking about. There are several problems with a tower on top. One is that to o[pen the kegerator for anything you have to pull it away from the wall. Mine is mounted on a platform with casters, but it never wants to roll straight, or the smallest piece of trash underneath will stop one wheel. Then you have to yank, disturbing my beer and my mood. Also the temp difference between the kegs and the taps causes foaming problems on the first couple of beers. Since I only drink a couple each day, that's a problem. I've got a blower but it makes it much too complicated. Also I'ld like to put bottled beer in mine but since I have to move it every time it's not practical. go with the collar, I also think it looks cleaner and cooler.
