I know it is only February, but tonight I felt I had to make the leap from the wonderful winter beers to some spring bock beers! At the restaurant I was at tonight, I had a marvelous bottle of Celebrator Dopplebock! I had them take it out of the cooler about 20 minutes before I had them serve it to me to get the temp about right and asked for a non-chilled glass, and it was sublime!! I am ready for Bock-Fest at Schell's Brewery on March 1st! Fantastic time. Drinking bock beer (with red hot iron poker!) and oom-pah bands and brats and general mayhem in a gorgeous outdoor setting in Minnesota! Dress warm and have a blast!

Yes but doppelbock can be enjoyed almost year round which is a great reward sine it is one of my favorite styles of beer, and Celebrator is one of the best. Most of the German brews you can't go wrong with.

I think I need to move to Minnesota.... I really like the Winona area.
Oh yeah, that and brats with beer, errr, beer with brats. Bock-fest sounds great!
That's not so nuts Dave, here in South Texas we are entering spring. Temps can be as frigid as in the 30's, but more often that not we have temps in the 60's this time of year. The past three days have been in the 70's.
Temps in the 80's or low 90's is not unheard this time of year and I recall in 95 or 96 I was mowing the grass year-round.
So as you can see, a great spring beer is not so far-fetched!!! ;)

As long as its cold and there's snow on the ground I stick to Winter brews. Don't get me wrong the Dopple bocks are good, but I like them at any time of the year. I've currently stocked up on Allagash Grand Cru and laying them down for future cold nights. They might not last as long as I would like, but what the hey, I can't help it. Keeping stuff for later, months or years, is way to hard. I think I only have like five or six in my collection that would be worth opening that I've had for years.
Spring time calls for Pale's and Brown's in my book, but I drink anything at anytime as long as its good.

I'm with ya jef...I enjoy great winter brews year 'round. I dig Stouts and Porters and have to have them all year. Thank God for homebrewing.

Browns, browns, browns. That is one of the reasons I love spring so much. The weather here is perfect for compliment to brown ale. Brown ale is what turned me into a beer drinker so there is also a sense of days when I was first discovering beer. Pale ales and lighter ales are also great for late spring when the weather is a bit warmer.
