All of Highlands brews are very good, they brew out of Asheville, NC... If anyone is ever there stop by any pub and grab one, the best is St. Teresa's Pale Ale!!!!!!

I've only sampled the Mocha Stout so far which was, I thought, fairly average, but I also have the Cold Mountain Winter Ale and Tasgall Scotch Ale left to try and I hear those are pretty damn good. Looking forward to them.

I've had the Oatmeal Porter via trade. Nice beer.
Cheers!

Chalk up another vote for the Highland Oatmeal Porter. Not only did I enjoy it immensely, it made me acutely aware of the direct effect/flavor oatmeal has on a brew - I was able to recognize a similar taste and mouthfeel from other oatmeal stouts I'd had. Good stuff - and welcome to the board Ruggerlock!

The porter was one I really wanted, but the guy I traded with said he couldn't get it. Guess I have to work another trade.

If it was up to me, Most American Porters and Stouts would be made with oatmeal. I think it mellows the beers and takes the harsh roasty edge off a bit.

Hey Rugger,
Welcome, I assuming you play rugby. Ex-hooker here. Good to have another tight-fiver aboard!

Good to see you here as well. Pretty boy fly-half myself. Still trying to hang on to old glory, lucky now that I'm the youngest of the "old boys".

Ahh at least your still playing though, several injuries and a lack of motivation to run full speed into a grown man have me out. I'd like to think I could still do it.....

Greatest sport in world, word! Never strayed further from the pack than scrum half. Never pretty, or fast, enough for the back line.

But sometimes I like that roasty edge... ;)
I like Highland's Gaelic Ale and their other beers; I'm glad my parents decided to retire in Waynesville!
