I'm happy to see that August Schell made the top 10 since it's my hometown brewery and I owe alot as far as my addiction to them.:D

Nice to see CO representin' as well. Great Divide and New Belgium get mentioned, as well as Flying Dog farther down the list. Very cool!

So where's Odell Brewing?

Stone has a lot to answer for for MY sliding deeper into the world of good beer taste; they were the wind that blew after Pizza Port set me firmly on the sea wherefore I had only waded before.

As I see it, the best overall brewery is the one that made the beer sitting in front of me at any given moment when asked what is the best overall brewery.

Not a single In. mentioned anywhere. Man I leave in a bad beer state.

Pretty good list. It was interesting to see the list of fastest growing brewers also. Surprised to see Widmer and Pyramid at the top.

the problem with lists like these even when they are great theres always great breweries missing, Old dominion isn't on it either, but still a good list...

I'm gonna make list and publish it too. What were the criteria for this list?

Good for New Glarus!!

I would have considered Three Floyd's, Capital, and Avery as well.

This list - as well as its glaring omissions - are a big part of why I chose my current tagline. :)

Well, I'm glad to see rogue is doing so well. they are definatley one of the better breweries and have an awesome stout. They are in my top ten. However I would have to say stone in my book just has them beet.

Stone makes some outstanding beers also and is in my top 5 (maybe top 3 if we could get them in IL). But with 22 different styles on tap at all times I think Rogue has a slight edge, and I think Ol' Crusty is the best barleywine in America.

You've just given me a good excuse to track down Ol' Crusty when I get back stateside (not like I need one).

My favorite barley wine is Centurion Barley Wine from Golden City Brewing in Golden, CO. This brewery is tiny and is located in a neighborhood in the shadows of Coors.

Wow !! It is great Sweetwater made the top ten. It is unfortunate sweetwater retired the ESB though. It was quite tasty and the Exodus Porter is sometimes difficult to find as well.

You can't make a top ten list that is fair. There are too many really good breweries that would be left off. Becauses is this just a USA list or worldwide list?

Here's a list of top beer lists. Yeah.. that made sense.

http://www.ratebeer.com/Ratings/Beer/RateBeer-Best/RateBeer-Best-JUN2005.asp

Avery is my top favorite. I love beers from Stone, Rogue, Three Floyd's, and Dogfish Head, but I like more of Avery's offerings than any other company so far.

Some other "Top" lists.. like the top worst beers. http://www.ratebeer.com/Ratings/Ratings-Top50.asp

I like how ratebeer, rates beer by categories. The barley wine list is my favorite.

Where's Three Floyds, Allagash, and Alesmith?

How much did those breweries pay to make that top ten list?

Never tried any Alesmith's products but am really looking forward to.

You said it well. I am in complete agreement with the above statements. FFF is incapable of making a bad beer.
