Interesting article in today's post:

Pizza Paradiso to open specialist beer section (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/11/18/AR2005111801301.html)

"So, beginning in January, the downstairs space currently used for weekend overflow and private parties will be made over as Birreria Paradiso , a 40-seat salute to microbrews and artisanal suds and an acknowledgment of the natural affinity between pizza and beer. Gresser, a fan of the Belgian-made Chimay, hopes to quench the thirst of like-minded customers with 16 beers on tap and 80 by the bottle. (At present, Paradiso offers four beers on tap and 20 by the bottle.)

Heading up the pub project is manager Thor Cheston , a 27-year-old beer aficionado aiming to pour "the best from Belgium, Germany, England and the States" -- including beers produced by the Brewer's Art in Maryland and Old Dominion in Virginia -- and to serve those representatives "properly."

Im in!!:D

I'm also wondering who this Cheston geezer is and if anyone here knows him.

Sounds promising. We need more restauranteers to be aware of the beer and food pairings and that there is a market for better beers.

Wow how did I miss this until just now...

So this will be at the Georgetown location only? What about the Dupont location? I go there for lunch sometimes since i work 5 or 6 blocks away. They need to figure out a way to add some room at that location as well.

I'm quite jealous of the beer selection you guys boast, but I have SNPA, SA Lager and Ale, Turbodog and Guiness within walking distance. I guess that's the best I can do for now.

Is that from home or work? I got squat within walking distance of home (unless you count the little mini mart at the gas station. I think they actually stock Sam Adams next to all the 40's...). Ever since I moved out to the boonies my by foot selection has been severely truncated. When I lived in Falls Church I could walk to several bars and pubs and a large club that had live music and decent beer on tap. Now nada...
