Does anyone know where I might order exotic and exciting beerverages (my term!) and have them delivered to South Carolina? Most companies will not deliver due to archaic church related restrictions. Unless my memory fails me though, I recall a company that shipped based on the purchasers assurance that it was ok in their particular state. Since I'm not a lawmaker, I believe the legality of alcohol shipment to this fine state would be perfectly acceptable! Thanks for any help.

3 suggestions:
1)Belmont Station - they will know what can be shipped to your
area. http://www.horsebrass.com/belmont_station/bst_beer.html

2)Liquid Solutions - same for them, I've heard great things about
their service.

3) Hi-Time Wines - great selection of beer, also

I've dealt with or heard great things about all 3 companies.
They should be able to answer any questions on the legalities.
If it's legal, they can ship you some great beer, also!

Cheers,
Bill

Thanks for the links. Isn't there a site that leaves it up to the customer to tell them whether or not it's permissable to ship to their state or not though? It seems that I saw one that sort of waived their own responsibility by asking the purchaser if it was allowed instead of looking too deeply into individual states pecadillo's...? Christ, Big-Brother is probably on the way to my house now! Someone's knocking on the door....

on the one hand i find it ludicrous that states regulate that kind of stuff...

...otoh, we (by we, i mean inhabitants of the united states of america) live in a government of the people, by the people...with a 10th amendment that leaves all laws not explicitly covered by the constitution to the state...i would recommend either petitioning against that kind of ludicrous law or leaving the state.

if memory serves, some counties in tenessee have a "no liquor" law (i think it's marshall county that comes to mind)...when i used to go jeeping in land between the lakes we had to make sure we didn't accidentally enter into marshal county with beer in a cooler! (we, meaning my group, never drink on the trail, but a cool beer afterwards is definitely in order!).

talk about stupid...on sunday at 0900 in denver i can go into a bar and have a drink...but by state law, no liquor store can be open!

We in Florida suffered with some of that same lunacy until recently, but it had nothing to do with bible belt absurdity. The law here put very strict limits on the packaging sizes. Only allowed beer to be sold in 4 sizes - 8 oz, 12 oz, 16 oz, 32 oz. The culprit behind the law was the big US brewers (AB, Miller), who had a monopoly & wanted to keep out the imports that come in odd sizes. Finally got overturned about 2 years ago.

We still have plenty of the state that has the Sunday rules (some places dry on Sunday, most have a no sales before a certain time rule). There is no state law on this, it's determined by county and city regs. My county prohibits sales before 1 pm on Sunday; fortunately, a small city nearby is 99.9% catholic - they allow alcohol sales starting at 7am on Sundays. :D
