It was the ingredients for absinthe. someone must have used the buy it now feature.

I stumbled across them when i was looking for Virginia breweriana.

I did a search on the words "Absinthe kit," and was directed to one for $45, Green Devil was the name.

I have had absinthe. bought some in Japan, which I don't think had the real wormwood, bought some in DC, which I know was the fake stuff, and bought some in Prague, which I am pretty sure was real.

Never noticed any difference, except that the one from Prague tasted much harsher.

Kind of like Sobu-sake, the stuff with cobra venom in it (and a preserved cobra in the bottle). Tasted like battery acid, and never did anything other than get me drunk.

We ordered some from overseas back in college...we all thought it kinda did something (besides getting us drunk), several swore by it; looking back on it I doubt it. It was the idea I guess, we all wanted to be mad painters!!;)

I have actually read an article that pointed out that all the "supposed" symptoms of absinthe sounded an awful lot like symptoms of...alcoholism.

I too have tried it in Europe. I could not drink enough to even get drunk. It was pretty horrible stuff. I've read the article on the internet about it's effects probably really being those of alcoholism too.

Some of those kits do contain wormwood. Anybody wanna try making it?

I bought some wormwood at my LHBS and made some using a recipe I found online. Interesting novelty, nasty beverage. I rather doubt the psychoactive properties of it. No-one that has consumed it has noticed anything other than regular effects of alcohol coupled with a God-awful taste!

I'll try it if you will, Chaz. The absinthe, not the shrooms, (although that might be interesting). I'm kind of worried about the side effects, although, it's been my experience that things are never as bad as you hear they are.

Also, I see you went back to your old avatar, I always liked it, kind of mysterious. Well Done.

I'm tempted to make some Absinthe because I like the licorice flavor of the anise. But the stuff I drank in England was like licorice flavored cough syrup. Evev poured over a cube of sugar on a spoon. I'm sure it was cheap stuff.

if you can get over the taste & the fact that you need to puke after each shoot absynthe isnt too bad, hey wait a minute.....
I think you probably need to be quite drunk before you even try and drink any of it. on one rather stupid occasion i ended up having a bt of a drinking competition with this girl & had about 7 shots of the stuff.
Didnt notice any crazy side effects apart from still being drunk the next morning & not being able to walk straight for the rest of the day!! but thats what university is for, right??? :D
