Sometimes a member may go away for a weekend, and not be able to check the boards. Upon returning to the boards Monday, it would be nice to be able to look at posts for the last 3 days. The options currently exist for 1,2, and 5 days (etc) but not for 3. Any chance it can be easily added?

Two thoughts:

1) An easy thing to do (which you may already know about) is to just click on View New Posts when you login each time. Makes it a little easier for me, and I don't miss anything (usually).

2) Where are you looking for the 1, 2, and 5 day options? This would be nice to know...

1) "View New Posts" doesn't seem to work for me. When I click it, I see the theads with new posts, but if I click on that thread, it takes me to the beginning of the thread. That can be a long time ago for some of these posts.

2) When you are looking at the threads list, at the bottom of the page you can select from 3 pull downs. The last one usually says "Last Day." Hit the pull down and you can choose a longer period. Hit go, and you will see threads that have posts older than just the last day.

I use the "View New Posts" almost exclusively. You could probably use that in combination with the "Go to first unread post" to get what you want.
I don't use the search that you're talking about because I never go into the individual forums unless I'm looking for a specific thread. With "View New Posts", I see all the new postings in every forum.

That's exactly what I do.

I use the notification. I get an email informing me of any posts in threads where I participate. I also us e the view new posts as well. Or if you are not signed in you can view todays active threads.

Do any of you have a problem with using "view new posts" and then "go to first unread post." Sometimes when I use this feature it takes me to the last post in the thread even though I have not read the previous x posts in that thread. It is still easy to use sine I just scroll up several posts but sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Just wondering if anyone else expereinced this.

I always use the view new posts - it's actually how I have the site bookmarked! The "first unread post" bit doesn't really work most of the time.

Chaz, that must generate a lot of email!

I have the same problem with the "go to first unread" thing. It seems to happen after not being logged in for a few days, which is the point of this whole thread.

Agreed, the first unread doesn't work that well, I usually don't use it but just know where I am in the thread and scroll down to there.

I also use the auto-notification on threads I'm subscribed to. I filter it to a separate folder in my Inbox so that I don't have alot of realbeer notifications clogging things up, but yeah it generated quite a bit of mail.

I am online almost continously through out the day so if I get a notification or two I usually can get to them before things start piling up. I am pretty good about keeping both my office and personal email boxes cleaned out.
