Why is the tap stuck and not opening? I just tapped a new keg in my kegerator setup- but the tap handle will not open- it's like its stuck or something. Anyone know why that might be? I got it tapped correctly (I think) and the co2 is on.

Welcome to the board-

When was the last time you cleaned and sanitized your lines?
It might have gotten gunked up in there, or else it might have otherwise gotten jammed. Take it apart and see if that helps.

faucets stick mercilessly... you can lessen the effect a couple of ways.

1) never stop pouring beer. (this is why faucets in bars don't stick)

2) use a lubricant on your faucet moving parts (scroll down to the bottom, I've used the Petro-Gel. (http://www.northernbrewer.com/gas-handling.html))

3) upgrade your faucet to the VentMatic seat forward faucet (http://www.northernbrewer.com/faucets-and-shanks.html). they are expensive, but they are amazing. I have six of them, so my faucets get used a lot less than someone who just has a single faucet kegerator, and they just don't stick. I love them, they are worth every penny you have to pay...

I'll second the VentMatics. I have 5 of them on my kegerator.

You can get them a lot cheaper (29.95 ea) directly from VentMatic (http://www.ventmatic.com/).

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys. I took it apart and played with it a while- then it still didn't wotk- I played with it some more and all of a sudden it just popped open and started working. I was so distraught over having a full keg right in front of me with no way to drink it.

Brew dog - I like your avatar- I've been drinking alot of the wildcat IPA lately. That might be my next keg.

Cliff-
The Wildcat is awesome-
Where are you? You gotta be close by. They don't distribute Snoq. very far (unfortunately).

Hey Brewdog- I'm in Gig Harbor. They sell 22's of snoqualmie brews at the local albertsons.

I knew you are close.

Maybe we can get together for a brew session some time.
Grog, CampAJohn, and I do so every now and then.
