No, he means Moose Drool. It is brewed, in Montana, by Big Sky Brewing. Not a bad beer, if browns are your thing.

Well, let us talk my friend. I can obtain a couple of nice Belguim styles of beer made in Cooperstown, you know Baseball Hall of Fame, that are very good. I could spare a bottle or two of Brooklyn Black Chooclate Stout. It is a seasonal beer for them that is great. I have another seasonal from Geary's. It is their Hampshire Ale. They market it as available only when the weather sucks, it is an outstanding beer. I can get other Brooklyn and Geary's products. We have a small mirco here in Syr. that makes some good beers too.
My wife and I both like browns and barely wines. Any woman that drinks barely wines has to be loved and she is worth it. Other than that she leans toward less hops and I love my hops.
We can work out more details with the PM system. WORTCHILLERGOAL

I'm not too familiar with small breweries in your neck of the woods other than Yuengling (sp?) and Saranac. Although I'm a huge fan of the Ommegang beers! We can get Ommegang and Hennepin here, but if they have any other varieties, I'd be intereseted. I like bigger beers, especially vintage type beers, winter beers, etc. But anything that's well made is ok with me. I'll do a little web research this weekend and let you know if there's something I see that piques my interest. I'd love your suggestions too. If there are any other MN/Midwest beers you want to try, let me know. I can get you Bell's, Summit, Schell's and many others without a problem. Thanks for the response!
Cheers,
Dave

Yes, Ommegang makes another beer called RAR VOS. It is every bit as good as their others. There is a mirco here in Syr. that makes a great scotch ale called Kilttillter. They also make a good Barelywine and a new style they invented called a British Tripel. The brewery is Middle Ages and I reccomend these beers. I can also get my hands on Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout. It is an imperial stout that is wonderful. I might be able to come up with a Geary's Hampshire Ale. It too is very good. It is a winter seasonal beer that they advertise as only being available when the weather sucks.
Let me know what you think or if your research turns up anything else.

I did a little looking online, and I'd be very interested in several of the Middle Ages beers, which you mentioned. The winter, the Duke, the ImPaled ALe, Druid Fluid, Highlander and KiltTilter were listed on their website and looked good to me. The BRitish Tripel sounds interesting as well. Broolyn's stout and barleywine would be great as well, since I can't get their beers here either. How are Blue Point's beers? I saw they had a beer called Old Howling Bastard and a winter ale. Any good? I'll let you decide what to send my way, but I guess my top vote would be for Middle Ages beer. I can get some Moose Drool easily, plus any other midwest beers you might want. Let me know...Thanks!

I have not had any of Blue Point's product. I don't recall having seen any last time I was shopping but that does not mean anything.
The Middle Ages products are easy, yet their production schedule changes. I am friends with the owners, husband and wife team, I will check what they have available or how soon and let you know. It would be worth waiting for the Kilttilter, British Tripel, or the Barelywine. I think I do have a bottle of the tripel now that I think about, infact I know I do. I will let you know on the others.
I am not up on product knowledge like I used to be. Marriage and children can do that. I do want Moosedrool. My wife and I both like barelywines, so if you have a suggestion we would love trying it.
I have easy access to most of the Brooklyn products. The only one I am not sure of is the Monster, their barelywine. I know the local distrib., I'll see if he has any.

Who's had both Moose Drool AND Fat Tire? I've heard such good things about Moose Drool, but if it tastes a lot like Fat Tire I may not be as interested....

Me me! Pick me! I finally had the chance to sample a bottle of Drool (see, doesn't that sound bad?) brought to me from Montana by some friends. It is a fine brew, a better brown ale than Pete's Wicked is right now - and probably even better than when Pete's was Pete's.
See my post in Battle of the Beers 2003, under the Moose Drool and Lew's Other Picks thread for my tasting notes.
I would most certainly recommend, and choose, MD over Fat Tire any day, they are not at all similar.

I echo this. I had Drool in Montana a couple of years ago and it was a delicious brown. It's only similarity to Fat Tire is that they are both beer.

Thanks to davesarman for a trade, I am having Moose Drool as I type this. This has to be one of the finest browns my wife and I have enjoyed. She seems to think that I had a brown that tasted very similar, not that I am bragging.
I will end by saying this is GOOD BEER.

Hey, I just read through this whole thread and have a couple of things to note...
FYI, Geary's has recently decided to cave to demand and make Hampshire Ale a year-round choice. Good news if you've ever had it!
Blue Point Brewing is a Long Island Brewery and their beers are just making it off of the Island as of this summer, but it looks like only to Manhattan, so far. I can't get them in NJ yet, but was out there last spring and had samples and a picked up a couple of sixers. They're pretty decent. The toasted lager (their flagship) is a solid, but not over the top beer. They had a cask IPA on that was wicked good. And a nice Oatmeal Stout...
And lastly, davesarman, what'd you end up with in the trade? I just had a bottle of MA Druid Fluid over the weekend and it reminded me of why I have a couple 02 and 03 bottles in the cellar. Such an awesome barleywine!
(a postscript, to get this back on topic...someday I hope to try the Moose Drool, sounds like an excellent example of a brown...)

I recieved some fine beers from Middle Ages Brewing: Tripel Crown, Druid Fluid, Duke of Winship and 2 bottles of Brooklyn's Chocolate Stout. So far, I've had the Tripel Crown, which is an interesting, albeit very good beer. Thanks wortchillergoal!
Threecb, if you want some Moose Drool, let me know. I'm sure we can work something out!
Wow, I was surprised to see that name again. I had Moose Drool two summers ago in Missoula Montana.
Me and my wife cruised in one friday afternoon, as a stop over on across country trip. It was a rainy summer afternoon, and the town was very quiet. Just by chance, we stumbled on the brewery (just a door to what looked like a warehouse). We went in out of curiosity, and found a make shift bar with Big Sky's brews on tap, and a bunch of second hand living room furniture. A fistful of people were in there and so we grabbed a spot on the far end of the bar and started sampling brews. Moose Drool was good stuff.
The bartenders had a steady stream of patrons coming in to have growlers filled, and after an extensive conversation with one of the bartenders, Big Sky did not bottle their beers.
I don't know if that has changed, but that's where the conversation went that day.
Anyway, kind of a pointless anecdote, but again, great to hear the name: Moose Drool. That afternoon in that makeshift bar is a good memory.
Nothing like a bit of beer nostalgia.
Later.

Moose Drool is indeed bottling now, and after my trip to MN I FINALLY found a sixer of the stuff! I get to sample it tonight after I'm done with all of the stuff going on around here. I can't WAIT!!!!!
